PPV Networks

PPV (or CPV/Contextual traffic) has been gaining a lot of popularity lately with affiliate marketers. As a result there are more and more sources of PPV traffic opening all the time….some good, some bad. It can be daunting to test them all so I’ve covered a few of the most popular ones below.

DirectCPV

DirectCPV is the best place to start your PPV Campaigns. The reason for this is because they have a low barrier to get in (just $100 deposit) and the traffic quality is good! If you are just starting with PPV, this is the network I recommend you use. I have a special $25 in free advertising dollars when you deposit $100 or more! Enter the code SMI25 when signing up!

With DirectCPV, you can direct link and do email capture methods and the results are pretty good with both (although I recommend email capture for best results).

Traffic Vance

Traffic Vance gets its traffic by serving ads to people who have installed their Game Vance software. A variety of offers can work great on Traffic Vance. Everything from offers targeted to a younger demographic like ringtones to car insurance quotes. It’s also a great place for list building. The key with Traffic Vance (unless you have a very large budget) is to add a small number of targets at a time and get to the breakeven or positive ROI point before adding more. You can start off with more targets but you need to be prepared to lose a little money until you weed out the non converting targets.

Pros

* Lots of traffic that converts well
* Easy to use interface for setting up campaigns and reporting
* Good customer service

Cons

* Traffic Vance only accepts new advertisers on a referral basis
* They have a minimum $1,000 deposit (although this could be seen as a ‘pro’)
* There is a lot of competition which can lead to some intense bidding wars

Media Traffic

Media Traffic gets its traffic by serving ads to people who have installed their Vomba screensaver product. Media Traffic is a great place to start because they have a lower initial deposit ($200) and there isn’t quite as much competition. With Media Traffic you want to run highly targeted campaigns. Don’t do the broad targeted or RON campaigns unless you have a profitable offer you want to scale (even then, it’s better to scale just by adding more targets). Offers that work well in Media Traffic are similar to the ones that work well for Traffic Vance. With Media Traffic you can also promote offers that are targeted to a little bit older demographic.

Pros

* Low initial deposit ($200)
* Not as much competition
* Decent traffic volume

Cons

* Not as much traffic as other networks
* The interface and target match types can be a little confusing at first

Adon Network

Adon Network gets its traffic by serving ads to people who have installed the My Geek shopping toolbar. To make any money with Adon network you need to add a lot of targets and run a lot of campaigns. That’s really the only way to make up for the lack of traffic. Per sale offers can work here with some testing.

Pros

* Not much competition
* Easy to be the top bidder without having to raise your bids constantly
* What traffic they do have converts well

Cons

* Substantially less traffic than other networks
* The interface is a bit confusing in part because of the targeting and ad serving options
* Ads are served as a pop under

Just like any other traffic source, PPV networks require testing and patience. If your first tests don’t succeed, try a totally new approach. You can change your landing page, targets, and offer. It takes some testing to figure out what works best on different networks, but once you do you will find out how profitable it can be to use PPV traffic as another stream of income.
