Using The New Adwords Interface To Increase Efficiency
Recently, Adwords launched their new interface and I’ll be honest, I still am adjusting to it just like with anything. Just like with facebook, I expect to eventually even forget how the old interface even was.
That being said, here are some tips to actually use the new interface to increase your efficiency. With anything, it’s all about learning how to use a system to your full advantage.
Hotkeys
[Source]
I am such a huge fan of hotkeys. In windows I use them chronically. I like to think that I use them more than most people, but it’s all just based on the people I know. So when I heard that Adwords new interface supported hotkeys, it instantly grew upon me.
Here is the list of hotkeys:
Global navigation
g then o: Go to All Online Campaigns
g then c: Go to Campaigns tab
g then r: Go to Ad groups tab
g then k: Go to Keywords tab
g then n: Go to Networks tab
g then a: Go to Ads tab
g then s: Go to Settings tab
Table navigation and actions
j/k: Next/previous row in the primary data table
x: Select current row (Use Shift + x for multiple rows)
e: Edit
p: Pause
n: Enable
d: Delete
l: Download
Editing ad groups and keywords:
e: Edit selected rows
Ctrl + Arrows: Move between editable fields
Ctrl + s: Save changes
Esc: Cancel edit mode
Filters
The new filters feature makes things really nice. You can use them to sort keyword lists by your higher converting CTR ads as well as other areas such as conversion, destination url, etc.
Using these filters will ultimately help those of us who are chronic reviewers of campaigns and like to know exactly where and what is converting. I’m still learning how to use these but the benefits they bring is already awesome!
Graphs
Ok, I’ll be honest. I’m not a HUGE fan of the graphs but really, they can help give you an idea of growth overtime.
If you’re not like me and write all your numbers down for each day, then this graph can really help you see your patterns. I suppose what the graphs will do for me is just further instill the patterns that I already know exist with my data.
That being said, start using the new adwords interface. It takes some time to get used to but there are some benefits there that can help you!
