Recently Microsoft's Bing search engine has been getting some much noted attention.

In fact according to some articles on tech crunch, it may actually be surpassing Yahoo's search traffic pretty soon! Now that is crazy!

Focus on Your Adcenter Campaigns

Now is definitely a great time to start optimizing your Microsoft adcenter campaigns more! I would say that MOST marketers, myself included give less attention and time to Microsoft adcenter. It's like a sloppy seconds search engine that only gets the already made campaigns from Google.

I normally download my google campaigns CSV, upload, check profitability and PERHAPS optimize just a little. That's it.

While this has worked well enough for me in the past, I think now is a great time to start putting more focus on your adcenter campaigns.

With the rising stardom of Bing, it's only bound to get more and more search engine traffic.

What you need to do to get more traffic

The great thing about Bing is that it is already tied into MS Adcenter. This means you have to do nothing to advertise on Bing's site! :) Doing nothing is my kind of marketing! ;)

While, you can do nothing, I think it's going to come down to learning how to optimize the best for bing's new services.

Enjoy!

As a marketer I wish that Microsoft’s account reps also got a refresh…

Most of the time my Google and Yahoo account reps provide very little useful insight but they do encourage me to continue spending money with them and always ask me if they can help with my campaigns while Microsoft doesn’t seem to care…

    Analyzing is always good =)

Has anyone heard about Microsoft releasing their Ad Center Desktop Tool for 64 bit Vista?

This was yet another disappointment with my new computer…

  4. Nick says:

Rather than port Adcenter Editor to 64 bit Vista they need to fix the version they have now because it crashes whenever you have more than 5k keywords that you need updated.

  5. That is crazy, though to be fair Yahoo sucks for search. I’ve noticed bing search hits coming through, so I have a good feeling about its indexing capability.

  6. IMspike.com says:

I started noticing more and more traffic from bing.com than yahoo the last two weeks. If this keeps up, it will definetely deserve a closer view.

  7. Nice bing post.I wrote a post about that on my blog.

  8. Thanks for posting, I’ll definitely be subscribing to your blog.

  9. I’m not sure if its user curiosity, or this traffic spike will hold, but my adCenter campaign are rocking. I had my biggest day ever yesterday and 50% of the conversions came from Bing! I have never treated adCenter like the redheaded stepchild though. With their lower CPC my ROI is much stronger than on Google. But I haven’t been able to play the volume game too much with Google, because clicks are so expensive I loose money. Plus Bing is awesome for booking travel and local search.

  10. Keith says:

I’ve been experimenting with adcenter for about a month now because it’s less saturated with competition… the fact that bing is being pushed heavily has been a great added bonus

  11. Nick says:

@Needmoney — the reason why Yahoo “sucks” is because they are using old-school bayesian methods for search which doesn’t work on the long-tail — Google and Microsoft use support vector machines that unitize maximum margin principles

and yes, it is sad that I actually know that.

  12. Ben Pei says:

MSN gets quite abit of traffic too.. 7% of the US searches I believe.

  13. I think the imagination of surpassing yahoo’s search traffic for bing is just amazing. That will be great.
