Hey Guys! Congrats to the Market Leverage Contest Winners!

I put in a short 3 second clip of my new car.

It's a beautiful Honda 2008 CR-V. It has custom rims, navigation, dvd player, and tinted windows. It's very nice to drive and most importantly, my girlfriend loves it a lot. A happy woman makes a happy man. ;) "Happy wife, happy life..."

Again, congrats to the winners!

Yesterday was the fourth of July and in America, many people get this holiday off to celebrate and be with friends and family.

For me, I bought a beautiful brand new car (but I'll post more information on that later...) and then hung with family and friends. All in all, a very good day! :)

Now, I mention the above to remind you that during holidays, people are less likely (or sometimes more likely) to sign up for whatever you're promoting.

For example on holidays (and weekends) financial offers are generally significantly lower than weekdays in terms of conversions and traffic but Dating offers (AzoogleAds and CX Digital are the place to go for dating offers) the weekends and holidays seem to be do even better!

Basically what I am saying is that you really shouldn't base your decisions of whether to hold 'em or fold 'em on these days.

If you're having a poor conversion day on a holiday, pause the campaign and wait until it is over.

If your ad is suddenly having a 50% less CTR, remember it's a holiday and that people just don't want your product or service on that day...

My general rule of thumb is that I NEVER edit ads or edit landing pages on holidays (Go spend some time with family people!!!).

Another thing to remember is traffic varies greatly from day to day, especially weekends. Sometimes the difference between a profitable campaign and a non profitable campaign can come down to finding which days work and which days do not work.

You can use most of the common tracking programs to figure out which is working for you. :)

So Top Affiliate Challenge has officially begun and the first episode was... pretty uneventful.

I didn't expect it to be too eventful because people are getting settled in and things are just starting up.

I did like when Monica, the host of Top Affiliate Challenge, called John Chow a black hat of black hats. Since when is John Chow a black hat?! I thought he made most of his money from his blog, TTZ media ads, and some amazon / store affiliate programs on some technology sites.

Maybe I am mistaken though...

One part of the first episode that I really enjoyed was seeing my affiliate manager from AzoogleAds, Ryan Sessler representing. He said some stuff about AzoogleAds about being clean and such.

The truth is AzoogleAds is very clean... just take a look at their front entrance!

AzoogleAds Office

Hahaha. ;)

What Ryan could have also added is that they don't use direct track and have a sweet rewards program... just to name a few things.

(Actually Ryan talked to me the other day and named numerous things he could have said including the above - I agreed.)

All in all, I think I am going to be voting for Jeremy's team simply because I have met Jeremy and he is an awesome guy with a lot of solid money making know-how. He is a very down to earth guy and yet knows a lot.

Jonathan Van Clute
Next let's discuss Jonathan Van Clute. Kudos to that guy! He has every single person singling him out as their biggest enemy / competition. Talk about walking bulls eye. If I were him, I would have played it off as much as possible as being a noob to everyone and then when just the teams were around, unleashing my full arsenal of knowledge. To me it seems like he might have shot himself in the foot a little bit by (I am assuming) telling people of what he is capable of.

Top Affiliate Challenge - First Day
I was talking to some people from Top Affiliate Challenge who will remain nameless about the first day of the show and from what I understand the best team pulled in just over $200 bucks total from the first day... Ouch. The saddest part about this is that this $200 bucks is from people getting affiliates to switch their links to the top affiliate challenge team link in exchange for a plug on the show. Hmm... Not to sure about that one. I guess it's one strategy...

Either way, the top affiliate challenge show is fun to watch because I love affiliate marketing.

Can't wait for the next episode to come out!

If you have been in the affiliate marketing realm for any amount of time, you'll probably have heard of Jon Fisher. Jon is the owner of wickedfire and the blog a o jon.

I had heard many things about Jon Fisher and so when I heard about meeting him when I was at the AzoogleAds Appreciate day, I was happy. This dude knows his stuff and doesn't hold back. It's great actually. I'd rather be around someone who is the same 100% of the time than someone who changes depending on who they are around.

Anywho, he and I decided to have a fun White hat search engine optimization bet of who could rank better for each others name.

Essentially my goal is to rank JonathanVolk.com as high as I can for Jon Fisher and he is trying to rank as high as he can for Jon Volk. The deadline is when we meet at affiliate summit east.

Really after looking at the search results for Jon Fisher, he has the upper hand because I'm competing against this guy who has had a high trust rank, low spam, site since 2002 up on the first result. DOH! It should be interesting trying to out rank for it.

The rules are simple really. We cannot use any black hat techniques. I think this is more for Jon than me as I'm not much of a black hat guy. ;) All optimization cannot be done by anyone except us. We cant use friends blogs and such.

This contest idea was thought up by Mr. Fisher when we were discussing some cool terms that Jon used to rank for over an AIM Conversation. It's pretty crazy what this guy has done over the past years.

The Stakes:
The winner of this competition will get one blog post about how great the other person is as well as having to get 20 links to the other persons sites using some higher trust ranking sites. I could really use this...

Just as a side note, if you want to link to this contest, please link to either both of our pages or none just so we're fair. :)

Thanks guys!

PJN July PromoThe week Pepperjam Network was released, I had a review written for it because I knew Kris Jones (the CEO of Pepperjam) wouldn't fail to disappoint. I wanted to follow up with a review of how PepperJam Network is doing now.

If you haven't yet read my first pepperjam network review, you can read that here.

Recently there was a case study done by Marketing Sherpa which you can read about here.

Essentially in this case study, Marketing Sherpa reveals the top five affiliate networks currently. Would you believe that Pepperjam Network is in fifth place!

While I fully believe this information because I know Kris has connections in this industry that would blow my mind, It's almost unbelievable that they have grown so quickly!!! Congrats to them.

As an example of Kris' connections, in the first quarter of this year, Pepperjam network launched 175 new advertisers, many of which are top level clients.

In the case study, Marketing Sherpa says that Pepperjam Network was used by 17.5% of the marketers surveyed! That's a pretty big impact for the stage that this affiliate network is in. Impressive for sure.

So all in all, Pepperjam Network seems to be doing really well.

After reviewing all five networks in the top, I noticed that almost all (I don't know about a few), are all similar in that they all have the companies manage the clients directly. This is different than a network like AzoogleAds or Incentaclick who all your communication is directed through your AM. Your AM then talks to the person at the business.

I am wondering if there is a link between this and the large growth or not.

All in all, Pepperjam network is one of the best affiliate networks out there right along with my personal favorites AzoogleAds and Incentaclick.

Keep up the good work guys.

What if I told you that for only a few minutes of your time, you could gain a large volume of organic traffic from visitors eagerly looking to make a purchase? Luckily, this can very easily become a reality through the use of the often-ignored Google Images search.

This is an amazing guest post by the owner of Pages that convert. For pre-made landing pages that utilize the most useful and up-to-date methods available to affiliates, be sure to check out Pages That Convert.

Why target the image search?
Think about it. Customers looking to buy a product or service online crave a detailed look at what they are about to buy. In an increasingly visual-centered culture, the visual aspect of a product is just as important as its feature list. I discovered this yesterday when I was looking to purchase a new luxury watch—after finding a few models I was interested in, the first thing I did was type the models into Google Image search and look for real (not product images) images to give me a better sense of what I was about to buy. To jump to the point, I clicked on the most attention-grabbing picture and actually ended up purchasing my watch directly from that retailer.

The best part about the image search is that there is little to no competition. My web search for these watches returned around 300,000 – 500,000 results each, while the image search results were consistently between 200-600. It should be obvious at this point that the ability to organically rank in the top-10 for any image search is as simple as a quality image, the right formatting, and a halfway decent website.

How to use images to your advantage
In order to take advantage of a high ranking in the Google Image search, we must first understand the formatting that the Google crawler looks for when indexing images. The structure that Google looks for is as follows:

Tables Based Layout:
<td>Keyword1, Keyword2, Keyword3<br> <p><img src=”images/keyword1-keyword2-keyword3.jpg” alt=”Keyword1, Keyword2” /> Keyword1, Keyword2, Keyword3</p> </td>
DIV Based Layout:
<div> Keyword1, Keyword2, Keyword3<br> <p><img src=”images/keyword1-keyword2-keyword3.jpg” alt=” Keyword1, Keyword2” /> Keyword1, Keyword2, Keyword3</p> </div>

These are the key points ranked in order of importance to keep in mind when considering how to construct the code around your image. As for sizing, small images are 150x150 and under, medium are between 150x150 and 500x500, and large images are anything larger than 500x500. Most customers doing image research on products sort by either All, Medium, or Large so size your images accordingly. It’s best to use the highest resolution image you have available and use your code to re-size accordingly.

1) Keyword should be below or above your image in the DIV, floating DIV, or table.
2) Keyword should be in the same paragraph as your image.
3) Keyword should be in the same table cell as your image.
4) Keyword presence in the image name and image meta-file summary.
5) Keyword presence ALT tag.

Bonus Content

How to automatically remove the Google “frame” at the top
<script language=”JavaScript1.1″ type=”text/JavaScript”> if (parent.frames.length > 0) top.location.replace(document.location);</script>

How to re-direct Image Search traffic

Sometimes you may get traffic from image search that may be valuable, but not extremely targeted to the content on your site. You can still leverage this traffic with some simple .htaccess additions that will re-direct them to wherever you choose. A good example of the usefulness of this is with someone searching for pictures of a particular cruise ship. When they realize that your site isn’t actually the place to book their vacation, they may leave quickly however using this, you can re-direct them to your affiliate link for a travel booking offer or something of the sort.
RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http:\/\/images\.google\. [NC] RewriteRule .*\.$ redirect/redirect.php [R,NC]

I was on a vacation this last week and man it was nice. What made it even nicer was when I got home...

Let's just say Azoogleads knows how to hook it up!!! :D

All my family (and girlfriend) know how I have wanted a large flat screen TV for many, many years but have always restrained myself so I can put my money into better things. My goal is to spend as little money on liabilities while still living a good life as possible and spend as much as possible on assets which increase in value. B

I actually had been saving up Incentaclick Amazon coupons to buy a TV so that I wouldn't have to pay out of my pocket for it but now I don't have to!

When I got home, I had a brand new 52" 1080P LCD TV waiting for me compliments of AzoogleAds. I went right away to Fry's Electronics and bought a Wall mount, cables to hook it up to my computer (DVI to HDMI) and a wireless keyboard and mouse. It was like Christmas!

Before I get into showing you, let's take a look at the old work area.

Above you have a 22" Samsung monitor (which I love), a Macbook Pro, and my new chair paid mostly from amazon coupons from CX Digital. The Computer is a e6600 Intel Core Duo with an 8800 GTS video card. Nothing amazing now a days but it's certainly more than enough to work on every affiliate offer I have ever promoted. ;)

Now, prepare to be smile. If you don't, I've smiled enough to make up for it.

I am still working on getting the wires all neat but you get the idea.

This thing is so large that I just had to put it near my computer so that I could use it for even more workspace! :) It's a thing of beauty!

So, all of that to say, THANK YOU AZOOGLEADS! :) I cannot say how excited I am about this beautiful new screen. For all of you who thought that there was no incentive program at azoogleads, you're wrong. :)

They do offer nice bonuses that are often way better than most networks. While they may not have a set structure of $x amount of dollars for every $x you make, the incentives they offer are often way higher paying than those networks who give usually less than 1% of the money back in the form of an incentive prize.

If you havn't joined AzoogleAds, I highly recommend you applying today. :) As a last note, I'd like to thank Ryan Sessler for being an awesome AM! He hooked it up!
