Your Elevator Speech.
This is a post inspired again by my Dad. If you couldn’t tell already, I consider him one of the most influential people in my business and life.
Essentially if you have not heard of an Elevator speech before, it’s a short 20 second speech describing what you do so that any one could understand. The term comes from the idea of being able to meet someone in an elevator and tell them exactly what you do in your business (think benefits) and be done by the end of the elevator ride.
It’s important to always be ready with your elevator speech because you never know when you’ll meet someone who is a potential investor or something similar.
Generally, you try to focus on benefits on what you do. Start off by writing a page or so. Narrow it down to a paragraph. Narrow it down further to be the core of what you do till you’re able to say it in about 20 seconds.
