Success is one of those things that is very inspiring to me and probably most of you.

Most of the time we read the news, techcrunch, etc about someone who just sold such and such business for 30 million or some large odd number.

To me because I am not there yet, success stories that are more on a personal level hit home and inspire me the most.

About two days ago I was watching an hour long program on KQED9 about Microlending. It's basically how some people have used microlending (small loans) in other countries to start businesses and to try to get ahead.

Well, because they inspired me so much, I wanted to share them as well.

The first one was about an Indian woman in the city of Gunter, India. Because I have been to India before, Gunter (and other places) specifically, I wanted to watch and see what the show was about.

This woman was dirt poor making ends meet by selling wigs of all things (who would have thought...). She was on average making $1 USD / day. Her husband didn't have a job and would waste most of her money on drinking. Crazy, I know.

She used a microlender over in India to borrow about $80 USD. She used that money to buy toys of all things. When I heard that, I was thinking... what is she doing?!

But what she did was go around to all the neighborhood kids (keeping in mind Gunter has a population of around 1,000,000 with lots of kids) and told them that if they went home and collected the hair from their mothers brush, she would give them a trinket.

She got such an overwhelming response that she needed more people to help her make the wigs. She started hiring other women both to make the wigs and to go buy trinkets and get kids to give her the hair.

Fast forward to now, she recently bought her husband a $3000 USD motorcycle so he could go run errands for her. She has 74 women working full time for her + her husband.

To me that sort of success is just great. She used creative thinking to grow her business past a job and into a business.

That being said, how will you grow your affiliate income from a day to day job into a flourishing business? Think about it. :)

I know give kids toys for building landing pages! Hahaha Kidding of course.

That’s amazing man, use the kids for success…lol j/p. I’ve been commenting on this blog for awhile now, full of great stuff – you’re very inspiring!

but yeah, it shows you that nothing can keep you down. I also started a blog of myself so I can be one of those inspiring people, you should check it out sometimes – although I’m just getting started:

I feel that is success is different for everyone because everyone has different goals and objectives that they would like to achieve

    3. game-girl says:

Yes. The story of the business lady is striking,I like to read such kind of stories, they show the way to success, tis amazing but the problem is everybody has got his own way.

    4. Not Donny says:

      Donny Gamble: No, you’re incorrect.

    5. What can i say Jonathon, the post was truly worth reading. I’m an Indian and I know to flourish in that society you need good contacts and money. It’s not at all easy for a poor person to reach the tops in that country. There have been rare cases like these and these cases never go unnoticed.

This story is very inspiring to me. There is a poor and sad story behind all successful person. If not, then he is not successful enough.

    7. FasterE says:

Fantastic story. It’s a motivator for all of, reminds us of how a little creativity can really get things going, and brings up an important point about how a little bit of money for some of us can change several lives somewhere else.

Now, the real question… Is she selling these wigs online yet? :-)

    8. That is very inspiring.

The guy at http://www.lifewithoutlimbs.org is also an inspiration to me. His name is Nick Vujicic and he has no arms or legs, yet he’s probably accomplished more in his young life than most will in a lifetime.

It’s amazing how people with seemingly unsurmountable odds can achieve success while people with good health, nice homes, education, good credit etc,. will give up at the first sign of struggle or blame others when they fail.

    9. Chris says:

yea i saw that too. And read it somewhere as well, its pretty krazy, no idea should be stupyd at all. Always try it out, even if you fail try something new.

    10. Kinjal says:

That’s really amazing!!! I am basically from India but living in UK and I know MicroFinance works there. It was creative thinking of the lady that led her to success. Sometimes those illeterate people are lot more creative than many highly educated ones.

    11. game-girl says:

I think creativity cannot be taught it is considered to be a gift from god.Educated people know many rules and laws and uneducated didn’t use them and act by intuition ruled by the god.

    12. Bcarter says:

This story is really inspiring. Your comment about having the kids build websites is not that far off. I’m sure there are people with kids out there that could build websites faster than they do.

    13. Nicole Price says:

What an inspiring story! I have also read that similar stories are heard in Bangladesh. Apart from the money making abilities, these women are growing in status and their position in society is changing with economic freedom. The micro lenders are also in it for commercial reasons besides the social do gooding and it is not done for charity. Everyone in the game wins. The only factor that the banker provides is the risk element. Surprisingly, the default rate is almost nil.

    14. perdere peso says:

      Great Post, great story too.

I love the feeling of success.

When you finally have success, everything starts to work out and things become easy.

Gives you a massive blast of peace and tranquility.

    15. Vinny Lingo says:

This is why I like kiva.org so much. I like knowing the money I give goes straight to doing this kind of thing.
