Success!
Success is one of those things that is very inspiring to me and probably most of you.
Most of the time we read the news, techcrunch, etc about someone who just sold such and such business for 30 million or some large odd number.
To me because I am not there yet, success stories that are more on a personal level hit home and inspire me the most.
About two days ago I was watching an hour long program on KQED9 about Microlending. It’s basically how some people have used microlending (small loans) in other countries to start businesses and to try to get ahead.
Well, because they inspired me so much, I wanted to share them as well.
The first one was about an Indian woman in the city of Gunter, India. Because I have been to India before, Gunter (and other places) specifically, I wanted to watch and see what the show was about.
This woman was dirt poor making ends meet by selling wigs of all things (who would have thought…). She was on average making $1 USD / day. Her husband didn’t have a job and would waste most of her money on drinking. Crazy, I know.
She used a microlender over in India to borrow about $80 USD. She used that money to buy toys of all things. When I heard that, I was thinking… what is she doing?!
But what she did was go around to all the neighborhood kids (keeping in mind Gunter has a population of around 1,000,000 with lots of kids) and told them that if they went home and collected the hair from their mothers brush, she would give them a trinket.
She got such an overwhelming response that she needed more people to help her make the wigs. She started hiring other women both to make the wigs and to go buy trinkets and get kids to give her the hair.
Fast forward to now, she recently bought her husband a $3000 USD motorcycle so he could go run errands for her. She has 74 women working full time for her + her husband.
To me that sort of success is just great. She used creative thinking to grow her business past a job and into a business.
That being said, how will you grow your affiliate income from a day to day job into a flourishing business? Think about it.
I know give kids toys for building landing pages! Hahaha Kidding of course.
