This is a guest post from Jonathan Chow... (Well... Not really but enjoy the Chowness of this post)
Without Further Ado... What I made for Valentines day.
This was the first Valentines day in 2 years that I was home for my wonderful girlfriend, Maria. She and I have been dating for 7 years now.
The first year, I was off in the Mexican Sierras painting churches and speaking at a youth event. It was good times.
The second year, I was in India visiting orphanages and eating a unbelievable amount of Chicken Curry... Sooooo much Chicken Curry.
So this year, I had the opportunity to go to Ohio during Feb 12-16 to visit my family but I just couldn't skip another Valentines day.
So on Valentines day, I decided to make Maria a nice Filet Mignon at home and watch a movie.
Without further ado, I present to you the John Chow... I mean Volk dinner.

For being my first time cooking filet mignon, I think I did a pretty good job but it could have been better. As you can see from the photo... I love A1 Sauce.
The mashed potatoes were good but needed more seasoning (GARLIC).
The carrots were maria's creation. They were brown sugar carrots and were tasty.
Lastly, rice pilaf. Mmm mmm good.
It was good times.

I like the John Chow touch with the post. I hope the food tasted as good as it looks. Our valentines was salmon which was just fantastic.
You need close-ups of your food, John Chow style. Close enough that your dipping the camera in the A1 Sauce.
Looks tasty by the way.
Hahahaha true true…. I also forgot to pimp my Flip video camera during the filming of the food.
Awesome! And you added your own style by showing what you cooked instead of what the restaurant cooks.
Hahahaha hopefully next time!
Wow that looks delicious, I hope you guys had a good time.
Looks like you guys had a nice dinner! That’s great
Looks good but A1 sauce on Filet Mignon?? Anything other than salt and pepper is a sin on Filet Mignon
Yea… I overcooked one side of the filet just a bit so I had to cover it up… Hahahaha.
This post changed my life.
Would read again?!
Jonathan,
Excellent post ! I take some credit for linking that photo to John Chow, and now I will retweet this post’s link to my 1400+ followers on Twitter.
John even commented above, Thanks John, hello from your BlogWorld Expo 2008 dinner guest!
Filet Mignon is just one step away from Kobe beef, which is what they were serving at The ML dinner in Las Vegas.
Respectfully,
