Insulting Things People Say Because You Make Money Online
Is it just me or do people still think making money online is: easy, takes no work, equates to filling out surveys, scamming people, or being in the porn industry!
As more people in my family, in church, and just family friends find out I make money online, they have produced an innumerable amount of often insulting and/or LOL worthy questions.
I’d love to hear some of the insulting or funny things people ask you when they find out you make money online, so please comment below so we can share in the LOLz.
Here are some of mine – all true stories somewhat paraphrased:
Church Friend: “Hey Jony, Um… I was really hoping to be able to have my daughter learn some of the stuff you do online so she can work from home. It’s just it’s really hard for her to get a job and she needs something easy she can do from home and not work much.”
The greatest part about this story is that the daughter he was referring to is BLIND. Not as in legally blind but can see shapes type of thing. No, as in, can’t see a thing, born blind. I had a hard time replying to this one. I was really offended at first, but realized it wasn’t intentionally offensive, so now it’s just REALLY funny to me.
This was a middle aged man who owns a business that is in the trades.
Church Friend: “Hey! I have a friend in New York. He’s a minister trying to start a new ministry up and needs a second job while he sets up this new ministry.”
“Great!”, I say.
“Yea, so I was hoping to give you his phone number. I hope you can call and help him set something up. He is wanting to do as little work as possible so that he can focus on the ministry. Maybe work an hour or two a day.”
This was another I can look back at and laugh. This was a middle age man who is in the trades, so I couldn’t blame him for not understanding. All good. ^_^
Church Friend:
Her: “Hey Jony! You build websites right?”
Me: “Yup but I only build them for my company, not really for clients anymore. Why’s that?”
Her: “Oh darn! I need a website built for a client of mine. She doesn’t really have any money or anything but we REALLY need a website. Do you think you could help?”
Me: “Yea! I think I know someone who is learning to design sites that might help ya.”
It’s funny to me how so many people want a website but expect you to do it for free. This was an older woman in her early 50′s so again, can’t blame her. Heh.
Ok, there are three stories… Now I want to hear some of yours!!!
