Yesterday, my church passed out over 625 turkeys and Thanksgiving meals to the people of the church. In the past few weeks, everyone in the church could sign up to receive as many meals as they were able to give out (completely free). After receiving the meals, the people went out and gave them to family, friends, and neighbors in need. Overall, it was a really cool and very inspiring to see and I thought I would share some of the photos taken by a photographer in our church, Robert T. Wright:

I love this kind of stuff. :)

By giving away 625 Thanksgiving meals we expect to feed around 1500-2000 people on Thanksgiving. We didn't require them to come to church or anything, just a simple act of kindness.

I’m not really the church type, not many in the UK are, but that’s a really nice selfless act that really inspires people, funny how easy it is to make a lot of people happy!

  2. Ad Hustler says:

Very cool. Ive been thinking of ways to get more involved with giving as well.

    Way to go, Jon!

We were hoping to get a large food drive together for the holidays here, but unfortunately we ran short on time. Instead I’ll be organizing something much smaller amongst family and friends.

A little bit of help goes a long way, even if you can’t see the direct effects.

“funny how easy it is to make a lot of people happy!”

That pretty much sums it up for me!

  4. That is really cool! Most churches would of made them come to church and get them, good to see kindness without wanting something in return.

    VERY COOL!

Pretty amazing! Whoever had that idea was definitely “inspired”… tough economic times can expose the worst as well as the best in people. Way to go Jon!!!

  6. Doyle Lewis says:

Very cool. I went out last Wednesday and delivered Thanksgiving meals for people who are sick and have limited incomes.

  7. It’s awesome that you are giving back. I will be participating in some food drives as well

Good job by your church. The holiday season is when those in need require the most help. It can be very depressing to go with little when everyone around you is celebrating.

  10. A Thanksgiving meal goes a long way. For the small price of the food, those people can have a happy holiday season. With the current economy, I’m sure there are even more people in need this year.

  11. Clement says:

in Singapore we don’t practice thanksgiving. But after reading your post, i have asked my gf to do it with me during xmas. small thing. nothing fancy. thanks for the inspiration!

  12. Awesome stuff. Many people have the misconception that sharing your faith requires you to beat people with a Bible. Ironically, that’s really about the worst thing you can do.

Acts of service and gifts demonstrate the love that Christ shares.

I look forward to hearing about what is in store for Christmas ;-)

  13. Brumm Verdie says:

Wow , it’s Thanksgiving Day! I’m happy with my extra day off, and I am planning to make something fun that will probably involve a moto trip and seeing something new in Williamstown I haven’t seen yet.
You write something new at Thanksgiving?

  14. Used Tires says:

That’s great Jonathan that you are giving back to people and your community. You have earned alot of respect in my eyes. Oh and also great photos taken by Robert! =D

    Till then,
