Get To The Point Already!

How many times have you contacted someone with something like…

Hey! I want to talk to you about something! Call me…

Or something similar.

These type of emails I absolutely hate and almost never respond to.

Also, on AIM, if someone I don’t know just sends me a message, “Hey.” I usually don’t reply either unless I’m not busy. Me + not busy do not go well together. I like to stay busy.

I am a very to the point type of person when it comes to business. I don’t want to have to know your whole life story before you pitch an idea, talk about your JV opportunity, etc. I like to hear the main reason first and then hear about the other stuff later.

That’s just me.

Some people are not like that at all. In fact, some people don’t reply unless you develop a story with them, etc.

So here is the “Right to the point”… of this post:
The thing to remember is that everyone is different. If one method is being ignored by someone, try another method. Do you think they’ll mind that you’re trying multiple times? Probably not.

This can be applied to joint venture requests, media buy / advertising requests, etc.

Last, but not least here is a great post by Tamar about How to Get an Influencer’s Attention. In this post Tamar asks many of the top web influencers (Matt Cutts, Shoemoney, Seth Godin, etc) how they prefer to have people try to get their attention. :) Great resource!
