What bids to start at while testing an affiliate campaign.
The question I have been asked quite a lot on msn and email is “What bid should I start out with when testing my new PPC affiliate campaign?”
Thanks to one of my good friends, I have a pretty steady formula for this.
When I am about to launch any campaign, I always put the bid at about 1/3 the average eCPC. To get the average eCPC, simply email your Affiliate manager and ask for the average eCPC of the campaign.
Generally setting it at this level allows you to see a minimal amount of profit until you watch your keywords and tweak them accordingly. (Which is a great thing affiliate unleashed will be able to help you do plug>)
So it’s really as simple as that.
For campaigns that dont have enough data to get an average eCPC, I generally go with a low bid to test and increase from there.
Hope that helps.
