You have got to love the Snuggie's marketing program. They pushed those cheesy commercials to create a cult like following of Snuggie lovers.
As a joke gift, I decided to get a Snuggie for each one of my sisters and my mom (4 Snuggies total).
The other day in the mail, I got a "check" from Snuggie. I thought that it was pretty interesting... It was a check for $8.25. Was this a rebate check?
It looks legit, but I decided to look a bit harder.
On the back of the check, this is what it reads:
I authorize Great Fun to charge the annual membership fee after my free trial. I agree to a thirty-day trial offer in Great Fun. I understand that the $149.99 annual membership fee will be charged to my credit card on file with Snuggie unless I cancel my membership by calling 1-866-709-4170 before the end of the trial period. My managership will be automatically renewed and I will also be charged after year thereafter at the then-current fee unless I call to cancel for a refund of the unused portion of the current year's fee. By cashing this check I authorize Snuggie to securely transfer my credit card information to Great Fun for enrollment, billing and benefit processing.
Nice! Spend $8 bucks to get a $150 subscriber to be a part of a thing called "Great Fun." Sounds nice! Looking into what Great Fun actually is... I found it's a program where you get cash back for purchasing stuff at particular restaurants, hotels, etc.
Hilarious.
One more marketing idea to add to your folder.
Featured Money Maker Of The Month:

I hope the Great Fun Club means I get a monthly Snuggie / Pet Snuggie combo every month
I’d steer away from that and Snuggies forever
Those checks in the mail are the worst. All those rip off credit protection plans that are impossible to get rid of.
I wrote about this last month as well. Pretty lame of them. Great Fun isn’t an easy program/rebill to cancel either.
I defintely not considering them on my end. Heard bad talks about Snuggies.
I’m glad to see others share my feeling that this is a shady consumer ripoff tactic. Jonathan, you don’t have a problem with this trickery?
Why else would I mention it.
Common now.
It sounds a bit strange. I’ll watch out about the bank details, who knows what can happen…
So, the FTC and the top 3 SERPS get on our case for a acai and ringtones and yet snuggies is doing DARKER tactics then my evil PPC soul would conjure. a Pox on them… a Pox I SAY!!!
Egh, no more snuggies or advertising them. I really thought they were pretty good, good landing pages, ok product, good price… This just killed my desire to do anything with them.
Thank you! You often write very interesting articles. You improved my mood.
I have not heard of Snuggie’s before, I will definitely check it out, thanks Jonathan.

I agree with minimink, i’m surprised you haven’t discussed the ethical side to this
I would like to join in this program!
