Passion For Marketing?

You know… I get a lot of starting affiliates emailing me each week asking to partner up with me. They tell me how they’re awesome in PHP, mySQL, Poke’mon (haha), or whatever but then explain how their REAL passion is affiliate marketing.

Yet as they continue in their email, they describe how they have no money to start and can’t afford to risk losing the money. They want a mentor or someone to guide them.

When I ask if they have tried anything, they generally reply that they are still researching or the classic, I’m going to try and SEO this site instead of trying PPC. (No risk) But yea… they have a passion for affiliate marketing.

Here is the thing: If you have a passion for something, it will move you to action (thanks Sean). Passion will drive you to get off your butt and start doing something to progress and move forward.

For me, in 2004, I had no job, no money – just a computer. I tried to make cash online, but I didn’t have anything to try and do it with. So because I had a passion for it, I got a part time job. This part time job I worked hard at (because I had a passion for online stuff) and wanted to fund that. I was a part time salesman making almost as much as the “40 hour weekers” (because I had a passion for online stuff).

I didn’t hit success online right away either. In my first year I ended up spending nearly everything I had on trying to make money online via marketing. Most things failed and I lost money.

It really wasn’t until 2007 (3 years later!!!) that I started to actual make a significant living. I had some mild success here and there, but nothing to write home about. Now it’s coming up on 4½ years and I feel like I have been very fortunate and blessed to hit the levels I have, but it all started because I was actually MOVED to action because of a passion.

So instead of writing me about how you can’t start, decide…
