Be sure to apply to my favorite affiliate network, AzoogleAds.

I've been asked (many times) if I could teach someone on a personal level how to be successful with affiliate marketing. The truth is... I cant. Success is really a mindset that you must strive to achieve.

That aside I've come up with some tips that may help you to reach a relative level of success using some common methods of marketing known as pay per click marketing.

The trick with yahoo search marketing is as follows.

  • Quality score. Essentially work towards any means of getting a 5/5 quality score. Why? Because when you have such a high QS, terms that would normally cost 5 to 10+ per click, you can get to for QUITE a lot less (IE I am paying 1.25 for a term others are paying 3+ for). The key to quality score is to group your ads tightly (meaning a small group of related keywords) and to have a high click through rate. Find keywords that are not performing well (All ads not on the first page, and all ads with excessive impressions and no clicks) and pause those keywords.
  • Coverage. Get a lot of keywords relating to your industry. Use tools like wordze (My review on Wordze Here) to maximize your coverage on yahoo. Be creative. A good example of this would be in the ringtone industry. Sure you could get 100,000 keywords on ringtone related words... OR you could be creative and bid on keywords like bands / artists, songs, phone models... ya know, that thing people actually are searching for. I think it was Shoemoney who said once that one of his most successful keywords for ringtones was "AOL." Think about the demographic... It works and works well.
  • Lastly, you'll need the inability to give up. Just dont give up till you reach your goal. I always test a campaign, and then set a personal goal for myself. "For this campaign I want to hit $200 dollars per day in sales," for example. Thinking like this will drive you to try new methods, cut unneeded costs, and ultimately "become successful!"

Now, this is a very very short list and wont guarantee that you'll be successful tomorrow. Since you're an internet marketer, the hinge of your success is thinking creatively.

I hope this helps someone. :)

” Essentially work towards any means of getting a 5/5 quality score.”

Are you refering to Yahoo’s quality score 5/5? Does Yahoo charge you less when you get a higher score?

Awesome post.

I always just used the google keyword suggest tool. Do you think that will be ok?

Any news on a keyword tracking script?

I want one!

MrSparkle: I am referring to YSM’s QS of 5/5. While I couldnt say for sure that they do, it seems at least to me that I get higher positions when I have 5/5.

Jeremy: Thanks :). Personally, I use google and yahoo’s tool. But it doesn’t give you enough long tail keywords. You’ll get a lot of the shorter tail keywords, but those arn’t generally the ones that convert as high.

Lots of low hanging fruit as it’s referred to sometimes.

As for the tracking script, I’ve been really busy working on getting some holiday stuff up (before the holidays are over) so things got pushed back a bit for public release.

Thanks again,
Jonathan

Jonathan,

Speaking of the holidays, what type of products do well in your experience? I do understand that you can’t give away your secrets :) But if you could maybe help steer some people in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks for the info in this post.

Well. I’ve heard that flowers do extremely well during mothers day.

Halloween costumes do great around this time but it’s a bit too late to set up a site now.

For Christmas… Products, trinkets, and the like.

Jon!

Just had my first net $500 day today! Grossed $970 - close to $1,000!! I’m extremely excited, as this was on a few new offers I’d thrown up 2 days ago. Started seeing a huge flux of cheap traffic from both MSN/Yahoo, and its converting at a good rate.

Hope this can keep up! I’ll be catching up soon to you dude :)

Ben
