Media Buying Tips From Media Buys Coach Seminar
On Tuesday night, the guys from Media buys Coach made this 2 hour long presentation on media buying.
What is Media Buys Coach?
If you’re not familiar with what Media buying or what media buys coach is, you should head over to a post I made about it here.
While I expected it to be mostly used to sell Media Buys Coach, I was impressed with the huge amount of information they provided. I even took notes… So without further ado, here are some of the things I wrote down from the phone call.
I hope they can help you as much I expect them to help me.
Media Buying Tips From Media Buys Coach
Disclaimer: These notes are just how I took them… interpret them however you will,
- He made almost 900k in a few months time doing buys. Coach sets his goals to 7 figures/month.
- When you’re looking to do a media buy, let the people know you’re a DR (Direct response) advertiser. Not a brander. Make sure they understand what you mean by this.
- Use quantcast or google adplanner to find demographics most common of your landing page. Then find where that demographic hangs out.
- Quantcast index is essentially the number of users in a demographic (IE 13-17 yr olds) vs. the internet average. Thus anything over 100 is higher than average. Gamestop quantcast index for 13-17 = 250. Thus it’s way over the average for that demo.
- Split test 5-6 variations of each banner size.
- Increase CTR by changing headlines, use shocking images, use blue underlined links, use fear and pain, and test with a white bg color.
- Always highlight benefits not features (common mistake).
- Try using images of people in the banners.
- Try using testimonials in the banners.
- Try using an all text banner.
- Try to use blinking arrows.
- Try to use gradient backgrounds for banners.
- Adservers are a good idea to use. Bill off your own adservers numbers. Cost: usually flat fee + Aprox. 0.06 per CPM.
- Things to have in your IO. 24 out clause, even clause, bill off own adserver, demographic targeting, day parting, and frequency cap
- Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate. Try using larger buys to negotiate down price.
- Always go for above the fold ads unless price is super cheap.
- Try to build out a campaign in 5-10 days. (I think this was a personal goal more than a note, but whatever…
) - Don’t use prosper202 for larger buys. Not designed for media buys.
- Always do the smallest buy possible at first, test traffic and then negotiate from there.
So, if you don’t understand half of the stuff in the notes, it probably means you need to go check out media buys coach. After listening to the teleseminar last night, I’m convinced of the great value that mediabuyscoach will bring to your internet marketing business.
