How I Increased Conversions 36.7% In 10 Minutes
Would you believe me if I said I increased conversions on my opt-in page by 36.7% with just about 10 minutes worth of work?
Probably not. But alas... I did.
About 2-3 weeks ago I installed an epic little tool called Google website optimizer. This tool kicks some serious butt when it comes to optimizing web pages. I want to show the simple steps I did in order to increase conversions.
Importance Of Optimizing
I was pretty shocked when I saw that the difference between the lowest performing landing page (-53.8% improvement) and the highest performing landing page (36.7% improvement) was really small. In fact, take a look at the screenshots of the landing page differences below.
Can you spot the differences?
This is why split testing is so important! The difference one change can make could result in a huge increase or decrease in conversion.
Check out the top and bottom results:

Steps To Increase Conversions (In 10 Minutes)
- First, I setup a Multivariate Experiment. This is by far my favorite method of split testing a page to optimize conversions. This basically means that you use the same page, but different elements of the page are changed.
- After you install a few bits of code onto your landing page, you can start making variations of different items. For my test, I tried 2-3 headlines, 2-3 blue headlines, 2 body text versions and a few other small changes. This resulted in 36 different variations.
- Sat back and watch the conversion optimizer do it's magic...
So really, if you're not using some sort of website optimizer on your landing pages, you're missing out big time!
