Check out the Jon Fisher Competition!

Perhaps the best advice I've been given in business is, "Find a need and fill it." Simple.

My version of this quote which applies to affiliate marketing is, "Find a desperate person and sell them the solution." (I just made that up on the spot but I like it! Hahaha.)

Really the best converting campaigns are going to come from people who are desperate for a solution. Better yet, find a person who is desperate about a problem that is private and sell them a solution.

Why do you think Viagra is one of the top searched terms on the internet? Or why do you think penis enlargement (never thought I put this word on my blog but there is a first for everything) is in your spam box every single day?

Millions of people every day are desperate for a solution. Question is... are you going to fulfill their need?

DISCLAIMER: I'm not telling you to get into the Viagra or penis enlargement markets. I don't ever plan on entering those markets myself at least.

Time and time again I look on digital point forums and other webmaster forums with people asking what websites they should start. The most common answer is, "whatever you enjoy doing! Start a website about that!"

To be honest, I disagree with that. If you're wanting to make money but your interest is spotted toads, you're not going to make money except a few cent adsense clicks which probably came from you "accidentally" clicking them.

Find a need, Fill it. That's the key to making money online.

great point. I have always been a big ‘follow your passion’ person. But you are right. You have to focus on what is making money!

My favorite quote from Boiler Room:
“There’s no such thing as a no-sale call. A sale is made on every call you make. Either you sell him some stock or he sells you on a reason he can’t. Either way a sale is made. The only question is who’s going to close? You or him?!”

I believe Gary Halbert stated it by saying “Find the starving crowd”. If your market isn’t starving for what you have to offer… you’re sunk.

However, I think that if you really want to follow what you love. You CAN making money doing. You just might have to think outside the box a little.

Couldn’t agree more with you man. Well put.

Business is business. It’s definitely advantageous to enjoy what you do, but sometimes its better to enjoy the functional components rather than the tangible content (ie: enjoy the process of business and making money rather than the concept of the business itself.)

You’ll go through a million ideas before landing on the one that sticks, so an overall love for business is the best love to have in this game.

Viagra and alike keywords are among the most serached terms because of russian spammers, who automatically and manually check their (and competitor’s) doorways and affiliate pharma-stores position in SE.

I totally agree with your concept about find a need and provide it. There are so many that say ” do what you love” ya thats great but I love making money so how do you do that? The way its been done from the beginning of time. Find out what people want and deliver it to them. You can do something you love after you have some serious cash sitting in the bank and then you can really do something you love to do. The hard part if finding out what everyone wants.
