The Loudest One In The Room Get’s Shot
There is a saying that the loudest person in the room is he first to get shot. I don’t know where I heard this saying, or how common it is, but it’s pretty true.
In the affiliate marketing world, being loud doesn’t necessarily mean having a blog and sharing secrets, although this does happen (shoemoney + ringtones). In my opinion this means being “loud” in your advertising methods.
Think about how loud your advertisements are.
If you’re targeting broad demographics, your ads are loud.
If you’re running on Google Search (not content), your ads are loud.
If you’re running on large media buys, your ads are loud.
When you’re loud you can draw attention to yourself and often leads to having more and more people copying your advertisements and marketing methods.
So how do you draw less attention to yourself? A couple ideas to draw less attention is to narrow down your demographics. When you run a broad demographic, lots of people can see your ads. If you focus on narrowing down your demographics to ONLY profitable ones instead of running everything grouped into one large ad.
It’s a simple principal but makes a ton of sense.
Another way to apply this principal is to not talk as much about a hot niche. Allow yourself to dominate as much as possible in a niche before competition enters heavily. Competition seriously lowers profit obviously and people will copy if it can be profitable. Just look at flogs and farticles.
