Making money online is great! But don't forget that life is all about balance. I made the mistake on focusing too hard on making money online and I strongly believe it has seriously impacted my health.

There is no way to prove it, but over a year ago I took a stab at working full time online after I got laid off. I continued to work on my blogs, started several e-commerce stores, and got into affiliate marketing.

The problem was I began stressing myself out. In the months when I made some decent money I felt great, but in the months when I didn't, I felt extremely stressed out. I started to ignore everything and focused 100% on my online business. I stopped going to the gym, stopped eating right and didn't leave the house. Most days, I'd be on the computer from 10AM until 4AM the next day! This went on for months. My wife would encourage me to leave the house, but when I did, I felt guilty. I felt I should be working.

But then I slowly became ill. I started having joint pains and started losing weight. Within 1 year I lost 40 lbs., was extremely fatigued and looked chronically ill. I began to look like Steve Jobs, which was very alarming to my family and me! I lost all my muscle in my arms, shoulder and some in my legs. After about 1 year of going from doctor to doctor trying to figure out what was wrong, I was finally diagnosed with a muscle inflammation autoimmune disease.

Fortunately, my condition is treatable, although it’s not curable. I’m currently being treated for it. Hopefully it will go into remission and never come back, but it could. Thank goodness for pharmaceutical drugs because I feel like a brand new man!

The point of this post is: Do not make the same mistake I made. Have balance in your life! Don't just focus on making money. Make sure you take care of your mind, body and soul. Exercise, eat right, maintain proper weight, become spiritual, spend time with your family/friends and make a ton of money at affiliate marketing! Life is all about BALANCE! Remember if you don’t take care of yourself, and as a result become extremely ill, 10 million dollars in the bank will mean nothing!

    1. This is a really useful post for almost everyone who is working over time. Be it at their day jobs or business. One of the reason I’m hesitant to take up on my affiliate marketing full time is for the same you described. I know I become to obsessive about making money sometimes that I end up working long hours at night after day job. Only after I learn to balance my work life, I’ll be ready to take on my affiliate marketing business full time. Thanks for the post.

I agree! Life is about balance! Go far to any one extreme and things go crazy… the goal is to stay focused & centered. Mid-course adjustments are always necessary, but always keep your eyes on the ball – stay balanced! ;-)

Well, it’s a good thing i go to school & play football, I don’t even focus on internet marketing that much – it’s just automatic, ya know?
