The Challenge

If you have not been following me for long, I have been doing a Weight Loss Challenge with Tyler Cruz. I was actually a bit depressed when I had originally weighed myself back in April and saw I had reached 194 lbs. I started to work out and eventually got down to 189lbs when I was approached by Tyler Cruz. He wanted to lose weight as well and as motivation proposed a weight loss challenge.

The challenge to him and I was that we had to lose 10 lbs in around 10 weeks. This seemed easy enough (and was not). Those who did not meet the 10lb goal would need to pay $500 to the people who estimated they would lose. For me, only one person thought I would lose, Jay from Datmoney.com.

Day Before The Final Day

On the morning of the 17th, I was actually 2lbs away from my 10lb loss goal, so naturally I was pretty worried that I would not be able to make it. I worked out a few times, ate a lot less, and tried my best to try to get down. I jumped roped for 10 minutes at a time, multiple times, sprinted back and forth, and nearly threw up because of it. I pushed myself hard.

I'm sure Jay from DatMoney.com, who has a blog about internet marketing as well, would be happy if I did not lose the pounds, but I didn't want to give the satisfaction of missing my goals. I'm very goal oriented and as such try whatever I can to meet those goals!

The Final Weigh In...

YES! I can't believe I have pulled this off!!! I was soo excited that I met this goal!!! I got to celebrate by doing the final walk through on my home Maria and I just purchased (which was literally RIGHT after I took this video).

Thanks to Tyler Cruz for taking the time to create this contest and push me to lose even more weight.

Finally, thanks to Shawn Collins for getting in on the action and also encouraging other affiliates to progress towards a healthier, happier life style! :)

Good work! I knew you’d hit your goal.

  2. Sup Jonathan?

Hey congrats on the weight loss and new house. Def exciting to be achieving your goals.

A tip if you decide to lose more weight in the future or happen to gain some back and want to get back quicker: check out the Vdiet 3.0 over at T-Nation.com

I learned about this from Clint Lenard on Twitter. I did my first Vdiet in April, and slimmed down a total of about 18 lbs in 6 weeks. Its not easy…and its intense. But the results are fast and when you’re done, you dont want to go back to the way you used to eat. Seriously…I am so much more conscious about my food choices now.

Since the Vdiet, I’ve just been hitting the gym 3-4 times a week, trying to simply maintain and tone until I do another Vdiet. I still have about 15 lbs I want to lose, so I’m planning the intermediate vdiet challenge starting July. Its def worth it for anyone who wants results quickly and safely.

I have a pretty good log system, charts, meal plans, etc that I worked into my day, and was able to stick with it because I planned in advance with a definite set goal. Anybody who wants the info, hit me up.

You coming to the meetup202 on the 27th? I may be there…not sure. Supposed to go visit family from Japan soon who are in San Diego for a few weeks.

I know you do some big numbers….so I have kinda of a personal question to ask you about when I bump into you next time. (and no….not asking for your keywords..haha)

    • Sick! I’ll check it out for sure!

      Thanks for the tip!

As for the meetup202 – I will TRY but It’s the day after I get keys to my new house – so I am thinking it will be spend moving in. Hehehe…

      Thanks again!

Why on earth are you wear shoes on the picture? You’re supposed to be naked when you weigh yourself! (that, and also your weight would be less :)

  4. Good work! Congrats!

  5. R-Truth says:

I have a feeling that you cheated to achieve the “10″ pounds loss result. By the looks of that video, since you did show anything but your shoes, I am pretty positive you weighed yourself in without clothes, thus losing the weight of your clothes to be able to make the cut. I know Tyler is an honest man, so when he makes his post on his final weight in, it will be legit. And that’s the truth.

    • Truth be told, I wore the SAME exact outfit every single time I weighed myself. The only thing that changed was my boxers, which obviously would change.

It was a specific pair of blue jeans and a specific shirt.

I actually hardly ate anything the last two days of the competition and drank a TON of tea. ^_^

The last night I didnt eat or drink anything.

  6. Vlad says:

Nice and congrats! But if you would have taken off those running shoes it would have been less. Did you use the berries? :P .

  7. jl says:

Which Acai/Colon combination did you use?

  8. NNNOOOOO!!!!!! Lol… hey, and for the record, in my post, I said that both of you guys would succeed in the goals. But since I had to choose a loser to officially enter the contest, I chose you to lose mainly because Tyler weighs more than you so I figured he would have it slightly easier than you to lose the weight.

But congratulations on hitting your goal! I can’t say I’m disappointed by not winning the $500 because I figured both of you guys would make it. I mean, 10 weeks for 10 pounds… not THAT hard now. :P

    Jay

  9. Congrats Jonathan – now keep it off!! lol

  10. Tyler Cruz says:

Wow, congrats man. I knew it would be very tough for you but I thought you had a good chance of making it, just because of how goal-oriented you are and how you really didn’t want to give away a free $500 lol.

I do feel sorry for Jay though… he was so close to winning an easy $500!

My post will be up on Sunday – I already did my final weigh in yesterday and took photos and the video, but the post won’t be up for 2 days.

    • Nice! Thanks for facilitating this awesome contest! It really was a blast and I think in the end we both ended up healthier and happier! :)

Cant wait to see your final post!

    • Hey, I did say both of you guys were going to make it. I did have to pick to enter the contest though :P

But I lost cause Jonathan starved himself and worked out extra hard that last day and must’ve weighed himself in the morning (cause we tend to be slightly lighter in the mornings).

      Anyways, congrats!

      Jay

  11. Congrats Jonathan, that’s awesome! :-)

  12. used tires says:

Yeah it would have been pretty horrible to take a bullet to the ego and the wallet. Haha great job losing the weight, hopefully you strive to continue staying in shape, and getting in better shape. Plus… it will make your fiance happy too :)

    Till then,

    Jean

  13. [...] Jonathan Volk was in a similar situation and had around 4 more pounds to lose as well, and he also just managed to just barely make the final weigh-in. While I was a bit surprised, it wasn’t too shocking. I had always thought that both he and I would make this challenge from the beginning. Internet entrepreneurs, or entrepreneurs in general tend to be very goal-oriented and will often do whatever it takes to reach their goals. [...]

  14. MLDina says:

Congratulations! Losing weight is never easy, but glad you were able to hit your goal (sorry Jay)! An even bigger congrats on the house, though. That’s exciting!

  15. [...] So, it was going so good and I felt the $500 being sent to my Paypal account. I mean, he was like 4.5 pounds away like two days before the deadline. And of course, he worked out a lot more, starved himself, etc so he would succeed and not have to pay. [...]

  16. Brad says:

congratz, it’s funny how much effort is it is to lose weight, and how easy it is to gain.

  17. Cash Back says:

Congrats on making the weight loss goal Jonathan. I agree with the comments above about taking your shoes off. The shoes & clothes can easily add a pound of two, but you do have to be consistent.
