Yes it is unfortunate that spam has worked its way so deeply into twitter. Now so many other people send out the same kind of spam thinking that it is an acceptable way to push their products.

It's the age-old strategy of annoying 10,000 people "knowing" (statistically) that one of them will buy something from you. A strategy employed by people who could really care less about the 9,999 annoyed people that each sale generates.

As long as the Interwebs make such a strategy feasible, you will continue to see it everywhere.

This is exactly why I started a new twitter account. It was just too much work to unfollow all of these people. Unfortunately the majority of people that do this won't read this post.
