"Hi, You don't know me but BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!11one"
This seems to be all the rage of how people are TRYING to sell on twitter.
REALLY? Common guys!
Everyday I get at least 5 messages from people who I follow back (automated messages no doubt) saying some stupid message about themselves and then something like "check out this product."
This is a terrible shotgun method of selling and if you're doing it on twitter I'd highly recommend not doing it.
If you want people to trust you, just like a blog, provide good solid twitter content and then, only then, offer then valuable products that can help them with their business.
Just a little pet peeve.

I couldn’t agree more! I usually unfollow them right away.
This is exactly why I started a new twitter account. It was just too much work to unfollow all of these people. Unfortunately the majority of people that do this won’t read this post.
Great post Jonathan. That was a awesome post!
It’s the age-old strategy of annoying 10,000 people “knowing” (statistically) that one of them will buy something from you. A strategy employed by people who could really care less about the 9,999 annoyed people that each sale generates.
As long as the Interwebs make such a strategy feasible, you will continue to see it everywhere.
Yeh, that’s what annoys me most about Twitter and other social networks
Yes this is thing that I don’t like to want. Good work man very nice and informative post.

Yes it is unfortunate that spam has worked its way so deeply into twitter. Now so many other people send out the same kind of spam thinking that it is an acceptable way to push their products.
Agree with you. It does not seem a good method of selling.
