Jonathan,

Do you think Affiliate Summit makes sense for an absolute newbie? Or would it be a waste?

Thanks for any reply.

The Edison quote: Edison failed over 1000 times before he created the light bulb. Those failures are what defined his success is definitely an important one that I am sure many people have heard before. Its definitely true that if you do not take risks, succeeding will be very difficult!

trying things, making mistakes but most importantly learning from your mistakes is the key to success in anything you do that challenges you. it seems like anything worth doing will be hard. you have to be persistent in achieving your goals. great post jonathan.

Jonathan,

I feel much better now. I have only been failing since September of 2008. I'm comforted by the fact that I only have to fail for four more years before I get it right...! My digital video production company will pay the bills while I experiment with CPA / PPC campaigns. This is one tough industry to fathom...

Hey Paul.

The way I look at it...everyone takes on the same risk. A super affiliate can fail as much as a newbie, if not more (which I think is the message of this blog post).

Once accepted into networks, we all have access to the same tools and all keywords are fair game. The only difference is that newbies (like me) have a lot to learn, and we don't learn unless we try.

After trying to explain to my gf (who uses the internet all the time) about PPC and affiliate marketing, she was LOST. I get the same reaction from my dad and sister who are both active on the net.

This tells me that there are still people out there who will eat up affiliate offers.

Anything worthwhile that I've done took a lot more work than I expected. If I had known how much work it would have taken beforehand, I might not have tried.

This may be delusional belief, but I'm going to believe it works and go at it.

If you're new, too, Paul...lets hang up the excuses together and make things happen. I just started a couple days ago and I'm pumped.

-John

PS. Jonathan, I signed up to PPC-Coach! And I lost sleep because of it. I watched their videos till 6am and got 2 hours of shut eye before work... =)

Failing at affiliate marketing is easy to do. I have been wondering if there is even any room for newbie to make a lot of money.
