Be sure to apply to my favorite affiliate network, AzoogleAds.

Today was Friday... the 13th... Dun dun dun!

Because of the 90+ degree weather here in California, I decided to hang out with my girlfriend and go swimming for most of the day. The pool was amazingly refreshing.

In my attempts to show off to my girlfriend, I tried to do the best jump that I could off the diving board that she has. I jumped and SNAP...

I cracked the diving board right in two... Hahahaha.

Other than that, a great day.

How did your Friday the 13th go?

Just a quick note: As of today, all adspace on this site has been sold out.

If you would like to advertise, you can "pre-order" by simply going to the advertising page and signing up just as normal. Once the current ads expire, you will be automatically next in line! Your ads wont expire until 30 days after they start running.

Thanks.
Jonathan

Warning: This has nothing to do with affiliate marketing :P

Let me just say, If you've never been skydiving, it is A-MAZING.

The pictures don't really catch my good side but I'm pretty sure everyone looks like a fool when you're falling through the air at a rapid speed. ;)

My Dad and I both are going to go back and take the classes so that we can jump on our own.

Skydiving

Today I am going skydiving with my Dad! We were going to go on Saturday but the weather rained on our parade (literally lol). We are both going to celebrate him turning 50.

If I die, I wont be posting anything more. Hahahaha...

It's the first time I've ever been sky diving so I will be taking pictures (getting them taken) and I'll update later today when I get the pictures.

I Got A Twitter!

That's right folks! I officially now have a Twitter account. Wow!

You can follow me here: twitter.com/jonathanvolk

What is Twitter:
For the longest time, I didnt get the concept behind twitter and thus stopped myself when signing up. But now I understand a bit more and decided to join to see how I like it. To be quite frank with you, even after signing up, I dont 100% get the concept but in time, It'll all become clear. ;)

The best way I could describe twitter is a social networking slash blogging slash instant messenger type service. It's an interesting way to network and meet new people who are doing the same thing as you or whatever.

Let me know what your twitter is so I can follow you and make sure to follow me.

Thanks!

Wow. Wow. Wow. New York was simply amazing!

For those who do not know, I went to New York to meet up with the people at AzoogleAds. The trip was awesome!

First thing I did when I got there was I met my Affiliate manager, Ryan Sessler and another great manager Erin for Lunch. Both managers know their stuff very well so it was very fun to be able to talk to them over lunch.

After lunch, we went back to the azoogleads office and I got a tour. They have such a modern office! I love how the entrance looks.

Azoogleads office

During the tour of the office, I got to meet all of the Azoogleads Staff. Wow. Every single person went out of their way to say hello and that was really impressive.

After the tour, I got to meet one of the people that I look up to quite a bit, Jeremy from Shoemoney.com.

Jeremy, myself, and some others then proceeded into the conference room to talk with the main guys from azoogleads about the company and other things! Shortly after we did a short interview / conversation for his radio show on WebmasterRadio.fm! So yup, I'll be on his next radio show! I was a bit nervous on the radio show so hopefully I don't sound too... stupid on it. Hahaha.

There were some great questions which you can look forward to hearing!

Here are some pictures in the office.

Ryan (my affiliate manager), Jesse (affiliate manager), and me (I'm distracting them from their work muahahaha. Just kidding.)

This was probably my favorite part about the entire trip. Just getting to hang out and meet everyone from the office was a great experience.

After this, we had a short formal speech from some more of the company execs and then went over to a restaurant / bar.

At the bar, Jon from WickedFire.com showed up and I got to chat it up with him a while. The thing about Jon that I really like is that he is the same no matter who he is around. The way you see him online is the way he is in person. It's great.

Just from talking to him I could tell that he really knows his stuff... more than most people I have ever met.

It's hilarious just talking with him because he has so many stories that would blow you away.

While in the restaurant / bar we all got some nice gifts from AzoogleAds including some nice sweatshirts, hats, and pens! Sweet.

As the night wrapped up and my eyes continually grew heavier and heavier from the huge lack of sleep that week, I took a couple more photos.

Ryan Sessler, Jonathan Volk

All in all, it was a great trip! Thanks again AzoogleAds for a great night! If you have not yet joined Azoogleads, you're going to want to join for 1 simple reason: They are simply the best in their class.

I'm on nearly every affiliate network there is and so I have quite a lot to compare them to. The main thing (and I touch this a bit in the Shoemoney show) about AzoogleAds that I really enjoy is the relationships that they form with their affiliates. They work towards long term relationships which last meaning long term business (money) for you and them!

Hope you enjoyed! I sure did!

Writing Goals

When you have your own business it's important for you to set goals for yourself.

Normally, before I start a day, I write out a list of goals I want to get done that day. I also have been journaling on my computer a list of campaigns that I know are verified money makers that I want to get into. This way, during the down or slower times, I have a huge list of things that I can use to generate more income. :)

I bring this up because in order to be a successful affiliate marketing, goals are very important!

Here's a little template that I use when I add to my list of campaigns to do.
- Niche: ______________
- Offer: ______________ (Offer number, etc)
- Sample website: ___________________ (include screenshot)
- Potential Earnings (Goal): ___________________ (Find this from an affiliate manager and ask what their top affiliate is doing in terms of revenue.)
- Marketing Strategies: (PPC, SEO, Article Marketing, etc)
- Attempted strategies: (If I've tried anything)
- Notes:

When you get ideas, it's important to write those ideas out so you dont forget and it's fresh in your memory.

Happy Easter!

Today I will be with friends and family and I hope you will too. This has certainly been a busy weekend because tomorrow I head off for Seattle, Washington!

After I am in Seattle for a couple days I will be leaving for New York to meet up with Azoogleads and my favorite Affiliate manager, Ryan Sessler.

I'm SUPER excited about the trip as I will get to meet up with some of the best in the industry. If you dont know, Azoogleads is THE best affiliate network and they're the best for a reason. They're simply better at what they do than any other network.

If you have not joined, I highly recommend you joining AzoogleAds. If you have any sort of volume on an offer, talk to your Azoogleads affiliate manager and see what they can do for you. Generally, they can take care of you and perhaps even give you better payouts! They have a lot of private offers that if you just let them know you're running X amount through another network they can possibly give you access to!

I've been with them for about a year now and in terms of volume, I do more volume through them now than any company.

Anyways, I'll be getting a tour of the company and stuff when I go to New York so I'll be sure to post a bunch of pictures from my trip.

I'll try to write some posts tomorrow morning and while I'm on the plane so that I can continue to provide you with some good posts. :)

If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, I'd love to be able to meet you in person!

Thankfully, Wes Mahler has started a meetup profile for all of us affiliate marketers located around here.

Although I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to attend the first meeting, which is Wednesday, Apr 16, 2008, 12:00 PM, I will try very hard to be able to check it out.

If you're in my area, let me know if you're going! I look forward to being able to meet everyone.

Money Tips

So after you earn all this money from affiliate marketing and internet marketing, what do you do with it?

I believe it's important to not just earn money, but to manage it very effectively.

I have to stop myself at times of thinking of all the "neat" things I could get when I receive a deposit of mid-low $xx,xxx. It's an easy trap to fall into. That's the primary reason why I have my goals always written and a clear vision set.

For my finances I try to set aside a certain amount each month. Generally I do something like this:

10% tithe (off of gross income), 10% savings (for future investments / assets), Tax money (variable % depending on what I believe is going to be my tax bracket I try to save around 25% of profits), a very small % is used for personal expenses and the rest is put back into the business for expanding.

In times past, I've managed most of my money via excel sheets but It's time to get a bit more advanced.

I found a pretty interesting post on ZenHabits.com which has some good points. I do disagree with the first tip about buying groceries with cash and such. I buy all my personal stuff on a 2% cash back card. Personally, I think it's a bit more wise but to each his own.

How do you manage your finances? What are your percentages? I always am open to new ideas.
