My good friend DK, the guy in charge of ThinkTank, just released 4 more videos on how to be the most connected person on the Internet.

DK is the real deal. He went from a regular dude running a Chiropractor business to being one of the most connected guys in internet marketing. Seriously... he knows everybody!

In the videos David explains the steps he took to network his way to huge paychecks! How about $5,000 in 5 minutes? Yea... crazy.

Go watch the videos now, it's seriously good stuff!

(And come hang out with me at ThinkTank - I can't wait!)

Back in January, we started on the Facebook Ads Guide project.

When we were done with writing all the content for the guide, we decided it would be easiest if we used ClickBank. That turned out to be a good solution as I feel we got many more affiliates than we would have if we were not on clickbank. Over 770+ affiliates are signed up to promote FBAdsGuide.

The main problem with Clickbank was figuring out a solution for the "Thank you" page. We needed a good solution other than a static "thank you" page to prevent the downloads from being easily shared with people who hadn't paid and we used Digital Product Delivery to do this.

After getting Local lead plan, I found that Chad was using a system called GetDPD. So, I decided to check it out.

GetDPD is a great system that integrates flawlessly with ClickBank for selling information product downloads.

Once the user completes payment on ClickBank's end and clicks through to the download page, DPD takes the variables sent from ClickBank, adds the user to your customer database, and if you opt to they "stamp" the purchaser's email address on every page of a PDF download in order to discourage hosting, sharing, or spreading the purchased guides.

Another great feature of using DPD is that they have great AWeber integration so that you all your buyers' email addresses are automatically imported to an AWeber email list for easy management and the ability to quickly mass email them.

Would I recommend DPD?

When we were getting setup, we ran in to a few hiccups, but their customer support was phenomenal. Seriously, some of the best customer support I have seen. (And, no, it wasn't because I bribed them with writing a post. I don't think they knew about my blog even...)

They quickly made permanent system changes to cater the process to have options for our needs.

Suggestions for the future

The main thing that I would love is if GetDPD decided to create an API of some sort so that I could develop custom download pages on my own server but that used their backend.

If this was possible, I would love the system even more than I already do.

DPD really made the product launch process a whole lot easier and if you're looking to do your own digital product, I highly recommend them!

Bevo Media was developed by two internet marketers who saw a the need for consolidation in the industry. The interface has been stripped down, tested, rebuilt and revamped throughout the course of three years to ensure that it is everything internet marketers have come to expect and more. Bevo Media aims to make the lives of internet marketers more efficient by allowing them to spend less time on tedious, repetitive steps and more time optimizing and creating new campaigns.

Final Comments from Ryan Bukevicz, founder of Bevo Media:
The goal of Bevo Media was to finally develop a high quality interface interconnecting all parts of your affiliate marketing efforts onto one central interface, allowing users to more accurately track and monitor their campaigns. There was no cutting corners in this project. The reason the project took 3 years to develop was so we can ensure we deliver a high quality, accurate product to the market. This is the first step of an extremely large plan, and I am absolutely determined on making Bevo the largest and most beneficial platform in the online marketing industry.

This morning my dad emailed me a link to an article from MIT's Technology Review website.

In this article it talks about a new adserver that Qiang Yang at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology created. Basically, this adserver effectively "reads" web image content and serves related advertisements.

So even if I described this photo as, "this is how I look in the morning" this ad server would be able to detect that ACTUALLY this image is of a green eyed tree frog and serve ads relating to it in some shape or form. A petco ad for example. Or... My blog about frogs. (Oh wait, no, Google hates blogs).

This has been a huge challenge in the past, especially when images were uploaded with no tags or description like most people do... In fact, even with the addition of tags and a description, the chances that they are actually relevant to the images content is low. <Insert "OMG I look so awesome in this mirror" photo here>

The question that is interesting to me is how far this ad server can go. Beyond objects, can it detect in photo text? I think it would be amazing if you had uploaded a XKCD comic for example, and the ad server was able to determine the text and serve relevant content because of it.

I think if sites like Myspace, Facebook, and photo uploading sites utilize this technology, it could open up a whole new realm of targeted advertising.

I can't wait to see how targeted ads become in 10 years.

The other night my wife was flipping through the old movie channels while I worked on my laptop in the living room. You know, just a nice relaxing time at home.

Now, to better understand my wife, she's one that cries for commercials, movies, and just about anything sentimental.

There was this old black and white movie that she stopped on. This old man was talking to his sick wife who was laying on her bed looking extremely ill. As he walked into the bathroom to go grab her something she stopped responding to his questions. When he walked back into the room the old woman had passed away. Tears began to come down this old man's face and he just held her for a while.

I looked over at my wife, expecting a face full of tears. Nope... nothing.

Surprised, I said, "Wow, you're not crying! What's up?!"

She said, "Maybe if I watched it from the beginning I'd cry."

This made me think about marketing (is that sad? haha). You might have heard from marketing experts that marketing is about telling a story. But what types of stories move people?

See, my wife was not moved by this movie's very important scene because she had no background. Therefore in marketing it's important for us to not only develop a story, but to give background to that story.

A good example of this is Shoemoney. In his videos for the Shoemoney system (and blog posts) Jeremy first establishes background. How he used to be 400 lbs, broke, fired from every job he's ever worked at, and how he overcame every adversity to go on to make over $10,000,000 online. Yup, that's $10 MILLION.

I also tried to build that a bit in one of my facebook ads guide sales presentation but looking it over now, I could certainly do a better job building the complete story. In fact, although my email list is smaller than most of the people who have promoted FBAdsGuide (like John Chow, and other large emailers), I still sold more copies than anyone else.

Why? I believe it's because the people on my list know my "complete" story... or at least more than others. People on my life are more likely to know that I have gone from a part time computer salesman making $300-$500 per week to making millions per year in revenue thanks to affiliate marketing and internet marketing. [ You can read more about me here btw ]

John Chow was my second biggest affiliate. Why? Perhaps because he wrote multiple posts about me including THIS and THIS months before so his email list had a bit more of the complete story.

So there it is. Marketing is about telling a story. Make sure you tell the complete story or your message may not move people like you had hoped for.

Today I was at Ace Hardware picking up a screw because we had lost it during the move to the new offices.

While we walked into the store, I saw something that caught my eye.

Yup... That's Kinder's Barbecue sauce at Ace Hardware. It's pretty epic once you think about it. Raichlen estimates that between 60-70% of grilling and barbecuing in the world is done by men. [Source]

Mix that with the demographics of Ace Hardware... 70%+ men and you have a perfect example of targeting demographics.

I know when I first got started in internet marketing, I was very black and white. If I was to promote a ringtone campaign, I would find every ringtone keyword I could. Simple right? But once I began to think about demographics... I started making good money. $300-$1000+ per day. How? I realized that those who liked ringtones generally searched for artists ringtones. So instead of just bidding on ringtone keywords, I would bid on artist names. Britney Spears, Eminem, etc.

Demographic targeting is where the big money is at. Once you know WHO wants the product you're trying to sell, it's not about keywords, URL targets, sales pages, or anything. It's simply about getting your message in front of the perfect customer. In this case... "When you go home and grill 'like normal'... you should try some of this really good BBQ sauce."

My wife has been searching for a good digital SLR camera for a while now. One of the main sites we use to shop is Amazon so she has been using that site to look at the different options.

About a week or so after starting her search, I started getting emails from Amazon about Camera products. I was really impressed after I got this email.

Check out this example email below:

This is such a great idea. Amazon is one site that focuses on conversions and sales unlike almost any other site. Just about anything they do, you can assume is a good idea... this is one of them.

When you have a website that has a search function, you can collect that data and use it to better market to your users.

This is especially good for those who have any type of ecommerce site. I'm trying to think of how I can apply this in other ways for non-ecommerce sites. I think the concept is really amazing and so if can be applied to other websites, I think it could be really profitable.

Any ideas on applying this to other websites?
