A good friend of mine told me about this neat little tool called Xobni the other day which is a pretty sleek outlook addon.
This tool is great for people like me who:
- Are terrible at organizing. (:: raises two hands ::)
- Get a lot of emails.
- Has trouble remembering who is who... (It's annoying having to go back through past emails trying to remember who someone is)
Essentially, Xobni creates a "profile" of every contact in your mailing list. It will show you past conversations / emails of contacts, any attachments that contact has sent you, rank of how much you talk to them, email stats, etc.
Honestly, I think it's probably one of the MOST useful addons I've seen in a long time.
Some of the statistics are really neat and can be really useful if you think about them. For one, the addon shows you when the contact generally sends emails the most. That way you know a generalized time of when you can probably expect a reply and when the best time to contact them is. Pretty smart.
Another SICK feature which I love is that Xobni automatically extracts phone numbers from emails and displays it in their profile even if you have never added them as a outlook contact.
Lastly, Xobni ties people together in a "social network" type fashion. So for example, I'm working with a guy from a company for a private contract. His programmer emailed me some code I needed to use and Xobni automatically linked the programmer to the main contact. True story.
All in all, if you're anything like me, this tool will actually be very very useful. The more I use it, the more I love it.

Nice software! Definitely something I would like to use. I would download it if they had it available for Thunderbird.
I really like the idea of this software, however, there’s no option for outlook express, or any other platforms.
Maybe gmail will catch on?
Thanks for blogging about this Outlook plugin Jonathan. I downloaded it and it’s really really helpful. It organized my whole inbox and searching for people or emails takes seconds.
Cheers,
Ryan
