Workaholics-R-Us

As you continue to grow your affiliate marketing business, it can be VERY easy at times to want to work each and every day.

I mean, if you're like me, sometimes just sitting in front of the television can be too boring so I usually grab my laptop to do some additional work while relaxing.

This kind of pattern shows great work ethic and from most people I know, they seem to work pretty much every day on their successful affiliate campaigns.

But what I have been realizing recently is that I actually end up getting more done when I take one full day off.

I have been taking my Sundays off for a little while now and compared to when I don't... I generally get more done in the week.

Taking a day off is important for your mind to basically refocus and rethink about what is important to get done and what was just a distraction. Filtering through these two things will mean major profits or major lost potential profits, respectively.

Overworking generally doesn't produce better results, it's like a parabola I would say. You reach a point of exponential growth and after x amount of hours you will start to decline in creativity (which is a big part of what affiliate marketing is about) and productivity.

So... Take A Day Off once a week. It'll help you in the long run.

When you take time off, you can put things into perspective better. So when you come back you know exactly what you need to get done and you get to it. Otherwise you always think I have time to do this later, or Ill get around to it, I think thats why schedules work better.

I am guilty of this. Any spare time I have I’m on here monitoring my stats and networks while thinking up new campaigns to try…I am going to start taking my Saturdays off because I feel bad lately feeling like I am completely ignoring my girlfriend while she sits by herself doing her own thing as I sit my ass on the computer worrying about things like how my campaigns are doing….it’s lame.

Wow, Bryn, I thought I was the only a-hole to neglect his girlfriend :) But seriously, I have been guilty of that too, especially since I am a n00b and I need to absorb as much info as possible…and I feel like crap when I neglect family, friends, the g/f, etc. Maybe I just need to take a couple days off or at least a breather.

Second (or third) that on the relational aspect of taking a day off. I didn’t realize how much time either physically that I spent on work, or emotionally (how much I talked about work even when I wasn’t) until I literally fasted work for a few days. It didn’t take long before my wife specifically remarked upon it. I now try to block out my time to have hyper-focused periods of productivity so I’m not partially-distracted the rest of the time.

I may be mistaken, but didn´t you mention in previous interviews how you would only work certain days of the week, dedicating others to church, girlfriend, family etc? Did you increase your working days to the full week as you grew your affiliate business?

When I try to take a day off, I end up working again or playing poker online… I’m stuck! lol
