Why I LOVE Spam

You know... most people hate spam and to be honest, up until recently, I absolutely hated spam as well.

But, now I've come to the revelation... if you can't beat 'em (and you can't), at least learn from them!

See, spammers can only spam so much. You can only abuse a list so much before it looses it's value to you and you have to spend more time getting a list from somewhere else... At least this is what I have been told.

It's because of this reason that most email spammers need to send an offer that works! They need a niche that is actually rockin' it. They can't waste their time sending out emails for Tickle Me Elmo Dolls when everyone thinks those things are creepy as heck now.

So recently, I have been researching each and every spam email I get. I'm like a student to their evil methods. Why? Don't worry, I don't plan on spamming your inbox.

I research these spam emails because you can learn a load of information from them including: what headlines are working, what catches your attention, what images are they using (meaning what demographic are they indirectly targeting?), etc, etc, etc.

I even take notes sometimes on what areas in a niche are hot. For _________ niche, what offers are working and how... etc.

Now, generally you can tell a good spammer vs. a bad spammer so sometimes you can't really learn much. But overall, you can get an idea of even new and creative headlines to use for ad copy or a large headline on the top of your page. And... Ya know, a lot of times it helps to have somewhere to start. :)

So save those spam emails and take notes... someday they may just help you.

P.S. This is not an invitation to spam my inbox with useless crud. ;)

    1. I got lots of spam on vigara and none of them worked on me. You want me to forward some to you? Maybe it works for you… :>

Just like other people, I hate spam! Never though about learning from them, but you got a point!

May be your next post can talk more about some spammer skills that you learn from them…!

On my gmail account I only get offers on fake watches and hanbags, and pills. The big surprise was on an old yahoo mail that receives 500 spam emails daily. I found offers there from Market Leverage, Hydra Network.

This is interesting. Something I have learned to do is when I watch Craigslist for local listings and I see things that grab the eye. A lot of time it is just a spammer trying to get my attention, however slowly but surely I am learning something about how to grab the readers to click, if and when I want to market on Craigslist. Good post.

That’s an interesting method. I also considered spam as spam, and now I’m thinking of them as creatives. Excellent. lol.

I guess that is a different and potentially useful way to look at things. I will have to give that stuff a 2nd look over. Thanks for the tip!

    8. You recommendation is an interesting idea, while i love going through the spam folders on my blog, it amazes me that the spam comes in waves, first viagra, then porn then weightloss, and on and on and on.

been doing the same thing for the same reason… works like a charm… let them spend the 10k to roll out their spam and give me their ideas on whats hot and whats not!

Great idea. Normally I just delete the spam mails, much like a lot of people, except those of your clever standards of course!! Most pay more attention to them in future. Thanks,

      Mike
