Learn the techniques I used to make over $4,000,000 in affiliate commissions! Check out my Free Affiliate Marketing Guide and learn the "how to" for Facebook Ads, PPC Affiliate Marketing, PPV / CPV Affiliate Marketing, And Media Buying!

So Top Affiliate Challenge has officially begun and the first episode was... pretty uneventful.

I didn't expect it to be too eventful because people are getting settled in and things are just starting up.

I did like when Monica, the host of Top Affiliate Challenge, called John Chow a black hat of black hats. Since when is John Chow a black hat?! I thought he made most of his money from his blog, TTZ media ads, and some amazon / store affiliate programs on some technology sites.

Maybe I am mistaken though...

One part of the first episode that I really enjoyed was seeing my affiliate manager from AzoogleAds, Ryan Sessler representing. He said some stuff about AzoogleAds about being clean and such.

The truth is AzoogleAds is very clean... just take a look at their front entrance!

AzoogleAds Office

Hahaha. ;)

What Ryan could have also added is that they don't use direct track and have a sweet rewards program... just to name a few things.

(Actually Ryan talked to me the other day and named numerous things he could have said including the above - I agreed.)

All in all, I think I am going to be voting for Jeremy's team simply because I have met Jeremy and he is an awesome guy with a lot of solid money making know-how. He is a very down to earth guy and yet knows a lot.

Jonathan Van Clute
Next let's discuss Jonathan Van Clute. Kudos to that guy! He has every single person singling him out as their biggest enemy / competition. Talk about walking bulls eye. If I were him, I would have played it off as much as possible as being a noob to everyone and then when just the teams were around, unleashing my full arsenal of knowledge. To me it seems like he might have shot himself in the foot a little bit by (I am assuming) telling people of what he is capable of.

Top Affiliate Challenge - First Day
I was talking to some people from Top Affiliate Challenge who will remain nameless about the first day of the show and from what I understand the best team pulled in just over $200 bucks total from the first day... Ouch. The saddest part about this is that this $200 bucks is from people getting affiliates to switch their links to the top affiliate challenge team link in exchange for a plug on the show. Hmm... Not to sure about that one. I guess it's one strategy...

Either way, the top affiliate challenge show is fun to watch because I love affiliate marketing.

Can't wait for the next episode to come out!

Haha, when jonathan van clute called his affiliate manager to switch some offer over to their joint project, I totally assumed it would be at least over $1000 a day.. $200? …

This strategy should not be allowed. Personal resources should not be allowed. (Like the blogpost on shoemoney.com for some $500 gift card..)

As it is now, nothing is to be learned from the show. I hope the hosts learn from this early feedback and change that aspect. I’d like to see daily challenges, e.g. day 1, everyone gets $500, try to get the biggest possible return.

Day 2, everyone is going to advertise on the same keyword list with the same budget, who is going to optimize their campaign the most and earn the biggest amount of money?

    etc etc

And what is up with that one guy and his furry hats… At some point I was thinking I was watching “Project runway”..

  3. uneventful – you have not seen anything yet…. its so far ehh….

  4. LP Creations says:

Seems it going to be a cool event, keep us posted!

  5. mal says:

Nice just watch some parts of the video on their site.

  6. Rideswitch says:

Not a bad introduction. I’ll stay tuned. Good luck Ian.

Cool idea but poorly executed. Like mentioned above they need daily challenges and not be allowed to use personal resources or get ppl to switch some aff links. And considering that the above rules did not apply I was kinda amazed the winning team only did $230.00, I thought Jonathan Van Clute could send 30K uniques an hour lol

  8. Benjamin says:

Overly hyped up I guess, was kinda looking forward to this stuff too.

Pity those people who spent so much effort doing videos and trying to get in, only to find the organizers not doing their part to make this show what it could be.

I’m glad this wasn’t another bash on the show. The show is just fine. Maybe after these first 2 ever internet shows they can and will get better.

Jonathan, I visited the show yesterday. It was pretty cool to see what they are really going through.

  10. WayneDog says:

If only wesley (from the first comment) was running the show instead of Thor it might have a chance. As it stands now the show is unwatchable and completely flawed in concept… Basically, a complete joke.

  11. Jason says:

jonthan didn’t really shoot himself in the foot. His team will probably rake in all the cash because he is just using his existing campaigns and he won’t have a chance of getting voted off because of it.

  12. LOL says:

30k uniques per hour is easy with adware, which is what Mr. Van Clute does. Lemme guess, zango and clicksor. Anybody can pull that and more with adware.

    I’d rather watch paint dry…

  13. Let’s not forget folks that what you are seeing is an edited show… and you also don’t know what time of days things are happening when you see them on camera. For example we weren’t able to turn on our first campaigns or do much of anything until the evening of the first day, plus there were tracking issues and all kinds of random crap that resulted in skewed numbers. I actually ran the numbers even without the revenue from a campaign that I already knew converted (which is the same thing BOTH other teams attempted to do, by the way) and we still came out ahead. ;)

Anyway, “reality” shows are anything but reality. I’m looking forward to more educational components showing up. Stay tuned and perhaps it can get a whole lot better!

Oh yeah and as for me telling everyone about myself, it’s not hard to find out about me… google me and I show up all over the place due to developing LPGen, making my training videos at ToolTrainer.com, and doing the sales page videos for Affiliate Radar and the initial training videos for SpeedPPC. I didn’t have a chance of staying “hidden” even if I’d tried. LOL

Lastly, no I’m not “just using my existing campaigns”… in fact, I only have one campaign running that I have run previously, everything else is totally new that we’ve built from scratch here.

    Fun fun fun!

    Kick some butt Van Clute!

Jonathan it would have been cool if you were in it!

I must say good fun to watch though, looking forward to episode 3, coming make it available already!

  15. Wes Mahler says:

    come* make it available already!

  16. wesley says:

You can already see episode 3 online; http://www.topaffiliatechallenge.com/episode_3.php

    Spoilers:

It seems all they do is talk about “the ring” and the elimination.

What is even more stupid, is that they have an elimination round, and aftwards no one gets eliminated…

Anyway, again an episode with nothing of interest at all.

  17. You don’t have to wait for the next episode to come out… I’ll tell you what happened.

  18. Great introduction. I’ll stay tuned. Good luck

  19. Proffesionally made blog! I like it!
