During the Debate, Obama said "They need to either use it or lose it" regarding the Land the United States Oil companies own.
Would that make the USA a communist nation or just Socialists?

I would say speculation-free capitalistism – if you don’t take an opportunity, someone else can come along and take it. Holding onto an asset that you don’t intend to generate a return on, or are waiting for a better environment to take advantage of, is speculation.
As a side note, the oil companies don’t own the land Obama is talking about, they own leases. Major difference – leases expire and go back to the government as it is. Since the gov’t generates cash off these leases when they are producing (and also upon the sale of the lease), would you want to see action taken on federally owned land? Could help lower them taxes.

Yeah, not sure what your point is there Jonny. When it comes to buying mineral rights – which have an expiration date as it is – on federal land, which is what we’re talking about, what is wrong with selling the rights to someone who will do something with it after the typical five year expiration of that lease? That’s what were talking about – if an oil company doesn’t work to develop resources when others will, why do you let them keep it? We’re talking about getting a return on our assets.
What’s ironic here is that on one hand you’re supporting the drill, baby, drill candidate while at the same time saying, hey no worries guys, hold onto that federal lease and don’t do anything with it when others might be interested in developing it and generating royalty revenue for the U.S.
I missed the debate so I can’t really give a solid input on this. In either case, let’s see how many posts this one gets.

That´s what happened here (Slovakia, former Czechoslovakia) in 1948. We finally got out of it in 1989. May Obama trust me or not, socializm has more cons than pros. Though there is no poverty in socializm, there is no richness too, everybody is at the same level (excluding the top politicians, of course) no matter of your education or personal capabilities (you can´t just found your own company in a socialist country, it´s prohibited, everything´s state owned). The state and its economy is isolated, it can only communicate with the other socialist countries. And the most frustrating is that even though you manage to have some money you cannot buy what you want as the market is very limited. Thanks god we´re out. But one thing I am missing, the Cuban oranges, I have not eaten them since we turned to capitalism 19 years ago.
Socialism is when the general public(government) gets together and agrees something needs to be done about a particual issue, i.e. health care for vets.
The US just became a socialist economy the second the bailed out the banks, that’s what socialism is, welcome to the club with the England, Canada, Australia, Japan, Germany and many more countries. When people lose their life savings free markets don’t sound attractive.
Well if you take the bailled out the president sign up this is a socialist approach in term economic worst communist.

None of that really matters if Obama just redistributes the wealth anyway;) “Poor affiliate marketers, don’t despair, the gov’t will take money from rich affiliates and give it to you”. I won’t have to read this blog anymore to figure this stuff out, I’ll just wait for my check. (insert evil laugh)
Joe the Plumber is famous
I once read that these areas that congress is talking about are areas with low amounts of oil. Meaning the companies don’t feeling the investment in the land is needed. I would think giving the profits they have been giving recently that they could afford such an investment. I would also think that congress is not being totally honest with the public about these leases.
PS: Vets do deserve free healthcare because of their service, as well as police and firefighters. People who choose this line of work should get better care because their position that they have or have had serves the public good at a personal sacrifice. I would not say healthcare is a “right”, it is not. If we “go there” then free housing, food, cable, beer, redskins tickets, etc.. might be a right. Rights are freedoms to make our own chooses. Rights are not items or money or grants.
I’m just going to have to assume you know as much about affiliate marketing as you do about oil company leasing of public lands. As such, you’ve lost a subscriber.
Somehow I don’t think Jon’s income is going to suffer too much if he loses blog subscribers so that’s not likely much of a threat.
Now, moving into becoming a socialist country…that will affect everyone’s income. Unfortunately unless everyone is willing to allow all the US banks to fold and lose all your money, some sort of intervention is required. Once the governments foot is in the door, they can pretty much do what they want though. There’s not really any good solution.
Whats wrong with a little socialism? Free Market is obviously not working. We screwed that up. I think a mix of Socialism for some things (Health Care) mixed with Free Market policies is a better way to go then how we have been doing things. OH and JOE THE PLUMBER. He sounds like a greedy pig. That is what is wrong with the US…..people are just to Greedy…and would rather stuff a little more cash in their pockets then help the underpriveleged single mother living on nothing and working 3 jobs. We need to CHANGE in the US!

Wow, I find it amazing that someone thinks Joe The Plumber is a “greedy pig” because he wants to buy the plumbing business he works for and make $250K a year. So this is where the discussion goes when the average Joe wants to succeed. Not only does he get punished by Obama’s tax code, he gets bashed because he wants to better himself.
You’re reading an affiliate marketing blog about success and you’re bashing someone who wants to be successful. Right, I can hardly get my head around that one.

*He’s stated clearly he wants a civilian military force. That sounds pretty spooky to me.
*His wife said plainly that Obama won’t just let you sit and do nothing, you’ll be called to work and serve. Ok, that reeks of facism as well.
*Obama campaigned for a guy named Odinga, he may actually be a cousin of Obama. This guy Odinga campaigned in Kenya as the communist and muslim candidate using the same words “hope” and “change”. Their tribe is predominantly muslim. Well, the majority of the population is of another tribe and Christian and of course that candidate won. Well Odinga and his followers went on a killing spree throughout Kenya – actually burning people to death in churches and hacking them apart with machetes. Obama convinced the Christian president to do a power-share with Odinga.
On a side note: When McCain was in captivity by the Viet Cong, they found out he was an Admiral’s son and choose to release McCain. McCain didn’t leave, he choose to stay behind and continued to be tortured because he didn’t want to leave the fellow Americans behind. McCain already proved he’d go through literal hell on Earth for fellow Americans.

Here’s a taste of socialism. Your 1.5 year old baby requires medical care to drain a boil. You go to the Hospital to get that surgery. The service is shoddy. And you get hit with a $13,000 bill. And yet the hospital was jam-packed with people who couldn’t speak English. These people will pay little or nothing. Who foots the bill? We did. And we ain’t rich! $13,000 just to drain a boil – they charged us for the free medical caring they’re giving everyone else. So socialism, spreading the wealth sucks.
what ever happened to candidates that base their campaign on protecting the cornerstone to this country’s existence (the Constituion). It disturbs me that a candidate like Ron Paul was shunned and laughed at, yet made more sense than any politician has in the last 100 years. He warned about the economy, the recession, the federal reserve. Did we listen? Of course not. Now we’re left with two clowns and told to pick the lesser of two evils. I’m sorry…Obama is CFR and McCain is Bushes clone. Same ol’ same ol’ in my opinion. I don’t think I can recall once hearing either Obama or McCain saying they wanted to protect and uphold the Constitution. All I hear is that its not as relevant in the “age of terror”. BS!
Oh good heavens, the Constitution is ancient! Why do Americans always worship it so much. It should be a living breathing and changeable document, that keeps up with modern times, not something you are stuck with forever. Even those exalted founding fathers would have laughed at you for worshiping it word for word so many decades later.
Apparently Obama wants to bring back the draft.

It’s the fabric of our society, the rules by which we are to govern, and keep the powers of government within checks and balances. Actually, the founding fathers would roll in their graves if they could see what we’ve done to an idea they risked their lives for. And it can be changed…(ever heard of Amendments?)
Its just now that we don’t even amend it, but ignore it. As you’re good buddy GW was quoted saying “it’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”

The school system and media have worked tirelessly to remove your religious, ethnic, family and national identity from you. If you don’t really know who you are or where you come from, then you can be controlled. You would just be a pawn of politicians and corporations.
The point being is that your understanding of the Constitution and the men who framed it wasn’t ever taught. The framers of the Constitution escaped persecution from a totalitarian government. To ensue this would not happen in the new country, America, they created the U.S. Constitution as a safe-guard with checks and balances to ensure we have freedoms and cannot be enslaved. To turn the Constitution into a “living document” which can be interpreted by any politician to mean whatever he wants, means you’re opening yourself to a dictatorship.
And don’t tell me Bush has been a dictatorship because you weren’t shipped off to fight a war. Nor were you put in an education camp nor has Bush suspended elections like others claimed. Bush’s term is virtually over and nothing changed – you could criticize him all you want and nothing happened.
However, Joe the Plumber asks Obama a question and gets crucified and then Obama plans on starting a national civilian security force and alludes there will be a draft. Michelle Obama said, “You will be required to serve.”
Holy cr#p, now apparently Obama has plans on abolishing the secret ballet? This is Orwellian folks.
