Be sure to apply to my favorite affiliate network, AzoogleAds.

If you run a BANs store or have ever run the ebay affiliate program, you probably know the whole story about how Ebay left Commission Junction a few months ago to go to their own in house affiliate program.

If you don't know what a BANs store is, it's a script that allows you to build your own "ebay store." When someone wants to buy something, they're taken to the ebay auction page.

You can see more about the BANs script here.

With the Ebay Affiliate program, you get paid up to 75% of the price it cost to put up the item for sale. So, for example, if it cost someone $25 to list an item, you could make up to $18.75 just for referring someone to the ebay auction and they win.

Additionally, with the Ebay Affiliate program, you could make up to $35 bucks if someone signed up for a new ebay account and won an auction! Cool.

Anywho, back on topic...

Following the move to their own affiliate program, Ebay's affiliate program seemed to take a dive in quality and revenue generated. In fact just searching digitalpoint forums, you can see countless threads of people complaining about how the Ebay Affiliate program was tanking.

Today I got an email from Pepperjam Network (highly recommended) that the Ebay affiliate program would now be offered through them as well. Wow!

I believe this move was an effort to try to redeem the Ebay affiliate program. Honestly, If I were running any type of ebay affiliate sites, I'd much rather go through PepperJam Network because of all the stuff I have heard about Ebay's in house program.

Hopefully that will make you guys some extra cash. :)

I have yet to hear from the BANs guys about whether there will need to be patches or updates for the BANs store in order to be able to run it on PepperJam Networks new program.

Either way, I'm sure the people at BANs are loving the fact that they have to recode and rework their code to work with Ebay's new affiliate program just to go back and have to add more. :) I guess that's life though.

Let me know how the new program works for you!

When you have an affiliate landing page(s), the number one way to lose a lot of money is to have your web host go down.

I've been hosting web sites since 2004 and I've been with a long number of web hosting companies, mostly dedicated hosting companies.

So far I have been with:

  • Ev1servers
  • FDCServers
  • SoftLayer
  • Hivelocity
  • A couple more which dont deserve recognition they were so bad.
  • Finally, my current favorite: LiquidWeb

So, why do I like liquidweb so much?

As an affiliate, I hate down time. Sending paid traffic to a down server is pretty much the worst thing ever. I've had it happen many times (specially while at hivelocity) and it was so frustrating.

With liquid web in the ~6 months I have been with them, I have had nearly 0 down time. When I need something, it literally takes 5 minutes to get to someone who is actually knowledgeable and can help me.

When I submit a support ticket, it takes literally less than 10 minutes to get a reply, sometimes less.

I've been with so many companies in the past that have not even come close to liquid web that I can't stop saying good things about them.

If you are experiencing constant down time or issues with your hosting provider, you might think about switching. I know for me, it was one of the best things I ever did.

The other day, I was wanting to implement pop under ads onto one of my higher volume web pages just to see what type of increase in profit I could bring. The problem that I quickly found myself in was deciding on which popup network to go with. There are so many that I literally spent hours searching digital point forums and other places to see which would bring me the most money.

Fast forward a couple days and fellow make money online blogger, Tyler Cruz, comes and tells me about his new(er) website which reviews adnetworks called PublisherSpot.com.

Cool! Just what I was looking for!

Tyler said that they take 8 or more hours to do a complete review on the ad network. They review every aspect that they can think of so that those (such as me) looking for the best solution can decide. All the adnetworks also are rated by the users so you can get a complete overview of both editor opinions and user opinions.

Perhaps the coolest feature to me was the ability to search via rating, category, minimum payout levels, payment frequency (to keep the cash flow going), payment methods, and more. I really can't say how great of a tool this is for those looking to start out in affiliate marketing. All your research is done for you.

The one thing I don't like about this site however is the front page. Personally, I think that way it's laid out just does not jump out at me. I can't really tell exactly what it is they do unless I actually look.

My personal suggestion to this would be to put a big search box in place of the whole yellow welcome message. In this search box, it would say, in big bold letters, "Search For Your Ad Network." and under it would be all the options for searching.

Just like a landing page, if people cannot tell what your service does right away, the chance of them using it decreases quite a bit.

Besides the great reviews and search features, PublisherSpot also recently launched a blog and a forum. While I'm not sure what the benefits of having a blog would be other than listing news, I do think the forum will be of great benefit to the site.

It should prove to be very helpful and allow users to post their own reviews and stories of the networks all in one place. Now instead of having to search digitalpoint for hours, I can go to this forum and read every user review I want on their forum.

All in all, I will be using this site as my number one resource when researching a new advertising method that I have not utilized. Great job Tyler. :)

Warning: This has nothing to do with affiliate marketing :P

Let me just say, If you've never been skydiving, it is A-MAZING.

The pictures don't really catch my good side but I'm pretty sure everyone looks like a fool when you're falling through the air at a rapid speed. ;)

My Dad and I both are going to go back and take the classes so that we can jump on our own.

Skydiving

Today I am going skydiving with my Dad! We were going to go on Saturday but the weather rained on our parade (literally lol). We are both going to celebrate him turning 50.

If I die, I wont be posting anything more. Hahahaha...

It's the first time I've ever been sky diving so I will be taking pictures (getting them taken) and I'll update later today when I get the pictures.

I read a lot. Every day, I read tons and tons of web related material. One of the sites I frequent is Retireat21.com.

When reading some of the older interviews, I came across one which is probably my favorite out of them all (except mine of course hahaha jk). This interview is with Sean Belnick, the owner of Bizchair.com.

When reading through the interview, you'll see that Bizchair expects to bring in close to $50 million in sales this year. WOW. That's intense.

Just to break that down into a figure, that's a little under $137,000 per day in sales. Impressive for sure. So in order to get there, I need to multiply my earnings by roughly 30 times. Hahahaha.

Who would have thought that you could bring in $50 million dollars selling office chairs? Not me. I never thought that would be possible.

So I say all of this because there are potential markets in a lot of areas. We may not realize at times the enormity of the internet. When we find ways to garner some of that traffic, the options are truly limitless.

I often read JohnChow's blog online when I'm looking for entertainment. One thing that I have learned from his blog is something he stresses at least once every month.

In almost all of John's monthly earning reports he posts, he talks about how much he earns per page view. Many people don't realize but this is how he is teaching people how to make money online. He is teaching you that in order to be successful, you must utilize your traffic as best as you can before wanting more.

One of the most interesting things I have seen was John Chow's earning report versus his traffic report. His traffic from a year ago actually has not increased all that much yet his earnings went from thousands per month to over $30,000 per month! All of this was done by optimizing his blog to maximize earnings.

Many times with your own affiliate page, you're not making enough profit simply because you don't want to optimize your landing page to maximize income. Sometimes posting multiple offers can increase your income. Sometimes simply adding a banner. Sometimes even adding adsense to your internal content pages... The options are limitless.

Some other ideas include adding an email opt-in. Try cross selling products. Try adding pop-unders when they click the affiliate link of another similar offer.

All are ways to increase your traffic income.

In a future post, I will be talking about a new site that shows you a bunch of ad network reviews which will be helpful in optimizing your landing page income.

Wordpress is an easy and effective way to manage your sites as I'm sure 99% of you already know. (If you're the 1% that doesn't know about wordpress, check it out here. :))

On the net there are many place to get themes for wordpress and most places are pretty blah. And of course if you want a custom designed theme from a place like unique blog designs, you're looking at a grand at the least.

A friend of mine owns the site, ThemeSpinner, a premium wordpress theme site. They offer some really beautiful designs which could be used for a variety of things.

Why am I talking about wordpress themes on a make money online blog? Simple. Wordpress is a quick and easy way to make a landing page that is content rich. Let's say for example you use Shade theme. You could create numerous articles that relate specifically to your ad group very easily thanks to wordpress. In the top box, could be the main call to action which is a blurb about the benefits of your affiliate offer.

Now you're looking at a great quality score, not a lot of work, and an easy to manage/update system. It's perfect for the starting affiliates honestly. No coding really required.

If you're wondering, I have used wordpress as my landing pages before (4 times in fact) and it does work well. Overall, it has some great SEO benefits (specially when you use the SEO plug-in) which help your quality score.

Normally, the landing pages I have designed for me cost $100 as long as I don't get any special type of coding. Because of the complexity of wordpress, coding /designing for it usually is much, much more. That's why anything under $100 for a premium design is a pretty good deal.

These designs run you anywhere from $50 to $70 bucks but with the coupon "JONYVOLK" (he didn't tell me when the coupon was expiring so no promises if this is an old post), you'll get 10% off! Sweet. Hehehe...

Here are a couple websites that are using the designs:

Now go make some more money. :)

Stuck in a Rut?

Are you stuck in a rut in affiliate marketing? I hear this time and time again from people and the truth is, everybody has those down times.

Really, not everything is going to work for you. If it did, everyone would be making money as an affiliate.

Here are some things I generally do when I'm stuck in a rut.

  • First, I generally pause the campaign. Take a break from working on it. If I can't get it profitable or am having issues with it, I pause and move on for a while. It'll still be there when I get back to it. There are so many profitable niches / offers. If you're having issues with one, try your hand at another.
  • The next thing I do is I generally talk to my affiliate manager and ask how other search affiliates are doing as far as EPC goes. Again, I need to know how I am doing vs. other affiliates. This gives you a goal to shoot for and helps you to better pin down what may be wrong with your process. Obviously something has to be wrong if they have a dramatically higher EPC.
  • After I'm ready to start working on the campaign again, I often will just test the same offer on another network (if it's there - check out offervault.com or affspy.com to see which networks have what offer). Sometimes you'll find that the tracking pixel on a particular network is not firing as well as another. (A.K.A Some networks skim leads more than others). The networks I have had the best luck with are: AzoogleAds, Incentaclick, And PepperjamNetwork
  • Lastly, if I'm just plain stuck and I can't get the offer to work, I simply move on. Don't think you're going to win at everything because it's simply not smart to use your time in that way.
  • Remember, everyone gets stuck in a rut sometimes. Press through and you'll get through it.

If you read any of the big "make money online" bloggers websites, you'll realize market leverage is really working hard to get some attention in the industry. You can see posts from big names all over just because they got a care package that probably cost the company a few hundred. Many guys made multiple posts...

So all of that to say, here is my "care package" post. :)

Just this weekend I received a package in the mail from them. At first I thought it was a hard drive I had ordered from tigerdirect but once I opened the package, I was pleasantly surprised.

market leverage

So I got a nice 2gb Flash drive / Pen, a ML hat, a ML golf shirt (XL hahaha), and my personal favorite a ML shirt that says, "I'm blogging this."

So with all the great gifts I decided to write a post about some of the advantages I can see to using ML.

The first obvious one is the rewards program. It's like an instant 1% back rewards program. Get an Amex Plum card, get 2% cash back. Put that in yahoo search marketing and get another 5% cash back. Put your traffic to Market Leverage and get another 1%! :) That'll increase your profit margins! Hahaha.

Compared to all the other affiliate rewards programs, 1% back is the highest I have ever seen. :)

The other really great thing about Market leverage is that you can actually get 5% referral commissions! That's the highest that referral commissions come!

All that to say, Market Leverage is quickly putting themselves as the industry leaders due to creative marketing strategies. Kudos to those who thought of the idea.
