Copeac Review

Copeac Website: Here

I've decided to review some of the affiliate networks that I have been with for a while to let people know what they offer and what is great or not so great about them. Today I've decided to review Copeac.

If you're looking for a great affiliate network, Copeac is perhaps one of the top affiliate networks. I've worked with Copeac for nearly a year now and have always had good success with the offers I ran.

Advantages to Copeac:

  • Weekly payouts for affiliates who earn $1,000 or more!
  • Lot's of great dating offers.
  • Lot's of great ZIP and Email submits!

Perhaps the most beneficial advantage to running through Copeac is that you can easily get onto weekly payouts! If you were like me, starting affiliate marketing can often create cash flow issues during large growth times.

Most affiliate networks require as much as $10,000 per week or more for you to be able to get onto weekly payouts so this really is a large difference.

The main disadvantages that I have had with Copeac is that I have never had a lot of good luck with affiliate managers there. I've actually had 3 affiliate managers during my time at copeac. Right now, my affiliate manager is pretty good but the first two I never really connected with well. I have heard that they really have some great affiliate managers there and some of my friends use Copeac almost exclusively.

All in All, I recommend copeac if you're having any sort of cash flow issues or would like to use ZIP or EMAIL submits for your offers.

If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, I'd love to be able to meet you in person!

Thankfully, Wes Mahler has started a meetup profile for all of us affiliate marketers located around here.

Although I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to attend the first meeting, which is Wednesday, Apr 16, 2008, 12:00 PM, I will try very hard to be able to check it out.

If you're in my area, let me know if you're going! I look forward to being able to meet everyone.

So, after a short couple days of testing Adwatcher, it has already detected over 300+ fraudulent clicks. It's actually quite interesting to see.

There are a couple main things that I really like about this program so far.

The first is that I think I found a competitors IP address. How do I know? Well, one person had clicked on my ads (and I had been charged) 22 times. That's right, one person clicked 22 times. I wont say how much I lost from that amount of clicks but it's significant enough for me to want to do something about it. So now that I have the information that they were probably researching my keywords, I want to prevent them from accessing my page.

What do I do? Hehehe...

I add that IP address into the Hosts.deny file and now that competitor cannot access my site anymore. :)

So far adwatcher has proven to be pretty useful but it does seem like a lot of work.

The process for getting your money back for fraud clicks seems to be like pulling teeth. A close friend of mine used adwatcher a couple months back and canceled his account because he never got any money back from Google. Knowing this, I wanted to make this work. I wanted to follow all the directions to make sure that I got paid for clicks that I didn't really need to pay for.

After reading all the steps you have to take, I'm wondering if it will be worth all the effort. I spend tens of thousands of dollars but really I doubt adwords is going to credit me back for people who click just 5 times (which is adwatchers default alert level).

All in all, so far it's helped me discover a few things but I'm not quite sure it's worth the $50 just yet.

What I have done:
To eliminate google complaining to me about wanting money back for what they will probably call "valid" clicks, I've raised my fraud limit up just a bit. That way it takes more clicks on the same ad to "trip" the fraud protector.

If the amount I save is $1000 or more, I will continue with adwatcher. If I make less than that or I dont get the credits back, then I'll be canceling.

Newsletters:
Just a random affiliate thought here.

If you ever find a great niche that is making you a ton of money, or is converting really well, try finding websites in your niche that has a newsletter. If the site is fairly good quality, contact the web master and ask if you can purchase an ad in their next newsletter. Personally I think reviews are the best but banners, links, etc should work as well.

These days there are way more web masters than there are marketers. I think it's safe to say that MOST people do not monetize their website effectively and as such you can capitalize on that fact.

Banners:
If you are running an ad that is doing really well for you, find natural ranking sites for your search terms and offer to buy ad banners. Think about how much you pay per click and try to get less than that at the very minimum.

Do a small test at first and go large if it's profitable.

Two small but good tips on increasing your income! :) Hehe...

So I decided to see how much I have been wasting on fraudulent clicks by actually monitoring it. Thanks to Paul's recommendation, I will be trying Adwatcher.

Currently, I spend tens of thousands of dollars per month on pay per click advertising and according to Adwatchers "calculator" I could save nearly $3500 bucks per month. Hey, I'm down for an extra $3,500 worth of spending money!

Over the next month I will be posting publicly my results and letting you know if it's worth it or not to monitor.

If you'd like to do the test along side me, you can get a free 30 day trial of the Adwatcher software by clicking here.

If you do the test along side me, I'd be willing to post your results as well!

Let's save some money together!

For the longest time all you would hear about the content network was how you needed to disable it to make money. This has been going on since before I got started in pay per click stuff which goes back to 2004.

To be quite frank with you, Content network and content match are great places to make money if you can figure out how. I've seen more and more threads popping up of people using cheap clicks to get a profitable campaign with some pretty good stats. In fact a good friend of mine made over $8,000 profit from the content network alone. Not too bad eh?

So what are some ways to make money using the content network?

I think the most important thing to remember is that you need to treat it way differently than a search campaign! It's an entirely different ball of wax. As such, I strongly believe that you should not ever advertise both the content network and search network on one campaign. Use multiple campaigns.

There are multiple benefits to this including the ability to track your profitability much easier.

Content network campaigns are a bit like search campaigns in that they need to be fine tuned in order to be very effective. Thankfully Google has recently released a way to do this. You can now exclude sites from your content network results.

By using PHP referrer stats, you can really fine tune a campaign to make some extra income!

Next time someone tells you to turn content network off, just tell them ok and smile knowing that you'll probably make more money than them. ;)

Similar to my post yesterday, I also wanted to touch on Google's "domain history."

Google does, can, and will remember your campaign and domain name performance. If you ran a campaign sending traffic to "example1.com" and the click through rate was terrible, your domain will always be tagged with that terrible CTR unless you make that CTR not so terrible. But this can mean time and a lot of lost money. Doh! On the reverse side, if you run a good campaign with a great CTR on site "example2.com" then google will also remember this!

The reason I know for 100% sure that this is true is due to split testing.

Now, as an affiliate, you need to utilize this information. If your campaign is getting slapped left and right, what are you going to do? Waste time and money? I sure hope you don't. Use the faster method and switch to a new domain.

The unfortunate part about this method is you're essentially ruining any efforts of SEO because of switching.

I've had sites where I bought links to, optimized for SEO, written content articles, etc and then got slapped with a POOR quality score. That's when I've had to decide between using my time and money or just getting a new domain.

Do you think Google will give certain accounts a better ad position simply based off other non-related campaigns? The answer is, most certainly YES.

This last week, my girlfriend, Maria, and I have been testing some new campaigns. She used my landing page, keywords (and even had more and grouped them better), and even used similar ad copy.

She signed up for a brand new account on Google adwords while I have an account that has a great campaign history. We ran the campaign for around a week now.

The results quite amazing. While Maria was stuck getting MAYBE 20 clicks or so per day, I was getting literally hundreds. It was funny almost, at least to me. She thought I was keeping back some magical secret but I gave her everything the same that I had.

While my traffic continues to grow each day, hers is nearly down to nothing. Crazy!

It goes to show, the more you can spend in google, the easier it is to get more traffic.

She turned to me and asked, so how should I get started? I replied, Let's set you up in Yahoo.... Hahahaha. So I got her both a US yahoo account and a UK account. She's probably going to kill in the UK market because there is so much less competition. She's going to focus in the UK for now because she used the coupon to get nearly $100 US dollars (50 GBP) for free. Sweet. You can view these coupons here.

My advice to all starting affiliates is to make some money in Yahoo first. Sure you are going to get less volume, but it's much easier to start making money. Google took me a couple months before I could really get to earning some money.

Another bit of advice is if you have a bunch of adwords campaigns with POOR quality scores you might consider moving over to a new adwords account.

Be careful with what you run on your adwords account! It could eventually make or break a campaign!

Short Answer: YES.

Long Answer: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. (hahaha)

Seriously though. Every week I meet someone new who is making a killing online as an affiliate marketer. It's amazing to me how many ways there are to make money online that once you've sorta discovered how, you cant help but make more and more!

Just today I met a guy who had his first $10,000 day. Congrats man! I wont say who it is because I didn't ask permission, but he's doing well enough that you'd never need to know his name and he'd still be making a killing.

This to me is so encouraging.

I have other friends I talk to regularly who are making $8,000 - $12,000 regularly per day with nearly half of it being profit. Amazing!

I say all that to encourage all of you who may not know people making money online except yourself. Making money online takes work but the earning cap is virtually limitless.

As an affiliate, you're BOUND to run into issues with your pay per click search campaigns. There are no ifs, ands or buts about it!

Too often (myself included) we just consider the issue to be out of our hands and just leave it, give up, or start over.

Yesterday I was having issues my adwords account. Traffic for all campaigns was literally trickling in. At first glance I though I had been hit with a major slap from the big google monster. After checking my campaigns, I found that most had great or ok quality scores so that wasn't the issue! I thought it might be a billing issue but everything seemed fine. After about 10 minutes of working I just decided to call them.

I talked with them and they sent it off to their technical support. Around 1 hour later, I got a response and the problem was solved. Wahoo!

Same goes with yahoo search marketing. I've had issues where my keywords got declined but yet was super relevant to my landing page. If you call yahoo, you can have the rep resubmit the keyword for review and viola!

All that to say, your job as an affiliate is to literally stay on the companies making you money until you're satisfied. You win a LOT more battles when you actually put up a bit of a "fight." And no, I dont mean to be rude and yell over the phone. Hahahaha.
