This post is in response to WebsiteShowoffs (and many, many others) asking me to update you on the status of the get rich quick posts.

If you did not read the previous posts, please take a couple minutes to read Part 1 and Part 2 of this series.

Now, the news is unfortunate. Although the numbers looked good, I never got paid from either networks that I ran this traffic through. Why? Because well, I hadn't read the TOS which states that running traffic from these networks is not allowed.

All of us know that this type of traffic is totally garbage so running this type of traffic is not expected to be counted. And to be quite honest with you, I didnt have high hopes for getting paid from the start. But it was a fun experiment!

Needless to say, I doubt I'll ever see the $30 bucks I put into it but I did learn something in the process. :) That's what matters.

I don't recommend trying this technique unless you can find a network that does allow this type of traffic!

How can you make money from this still?

Sign up with ClixGalore. Some of the offers they have on there are pretty good payouts in excess of $0.10 per click to you.

Now, if you're smart, you'll use the coupons I have provided on my blog to start some tests with the Clixgalore traffic. Below you'll find a list of the coupons:

With this type of campaign, if at all possible, you want to direct link from your ad to the clixgalore URL which is then redirected to the place paying you per click. As long as you bid less than amount you get paid, you automatically know your profit margin. Sweet.

Have fun! Let me know how it works for you!

Well tomorrow I leave for India. I will be flying first into Frankfort, Germany and then after being there for 12 hours (long layover), we will be flying into Hyderabad, India. After that we're taking a train for 5 hours up to the place we're staying.

Needless to say, it's going to be a long travel process. We leave on the 14th at 10:30 AM and arrive on the 16th.

Dont Worry:

I have been working hard to prepare 10 posts which are responses to the best questions asked in the Ask me a Question post. I've written fairly detailed posts which will be posted each day at Midnight.

I will be able to get in contact as I will have internet access there.

While you wait for the first post, here is a great post about linking from good ol' shoemoney.

Look forward to talking to all of you when I get home. :)

Reverse Your Thinking

Note: This post was inspired by Paul at UberAffiliate. He posted about Yahoo Buzz but I think it could be expanded a bit more.

Sometimes, we as affiliates get stuck in a rut thinking that there is only one way to build a campaigns.

Here is the most conventional way a campaign is built:

  • Find offer / Niche
  • Research and development
  • Build landing page / Get Keywords
  • Upload campaigns to Adwords, Yahoo, and Adcenter
  • Hope your keywords give you enough traffic and good conversions.

This is just a very BASIC layout of how many campaigns are built with a "traditional" affiliate.

But let's reverse our thinking for a moment here.

There are many tools online which provide you ways of finding hot trends. Google Trends, Yahoo Buzz, and even some ebay tools which might help you to determine trends in the search industry.

So... Let's think about this. What's the main part about making thousands of dollars per day? You need a TON of traffic!!!

So put two and two together. Using trends you can essentially find places where you can get loads of traffic with little competition.

Now, your only job is to find a CREATIVE way to convert that traffic into cold hard cash.

Good luck. :)

If you have not yet signed up with Google Adwords, now is the time. Why? Because I have a link that will get you $50 worth of free clicks with Google Adwords.

The $50 dollars in clicks only applies to new accounts but that is pretty much the stipulation of all these type of credits.

If you have not yet signed up with Yahoo Search Marketing, you can also sign up now and get a $25 dollar credit. Or, if you want to get United Kingdom traffic you can get £50 in Free Clicks. Awesome. Lastly, if you have not yet signed up for Microsoft Adcenter, you can get $50 in clicks for free.

With all these coupons, you have no excuse not to start today and experiment with pay per click!

A couple articles about Pay per click search marketing that might help you: (just to name a few)

Website Expansion.

The other day I wrote a post about how creating a campaign and leaving it to just make you money is not a good way to create steady income streams.

I mentioned that having a constant update on your site of content is a good way to keep "fresh" according to google adwords, yahoo search marketing, and Microsoft Adcenter.

This leads me to something I have been doing recently. Let's say that you've recently found a niche/offer that is generating a good amount of income for you. Do you leave it alone? Do you optimize? What do you do?

Recently, for my power campaigns ($300+/day) I've been working on making actual content driven sites based around the niches. This way, I can start to get great search engine rankings. If you have great search engine rankings, the pay per click stuff comes much easier.

The bottleneck here is going to be the continually fresh articles and content. Thankfully, this is very simple to outsource. If it's a power campaign, you should be able to pour some of the current earnings into seeing a great increase by optimizing your site.

If you dont know much about SEO, you're probably going to want to take some time and learn from some of the experts. Some of the great places are through SEOBook or SEOMoz. SEOBook is a great book that I highly recommend.

I find a lot of the techniques mentioned can also help get you a better quality score and cheaper clicks so it's worth checking out!

How to Choose a Domain Name that Will Increase Traffic

Choosing a domain name is one of the most important website related decisions you will make when entering the world of affiliate marketing.
Before you rush out to register a new domain name, it is important to consider some basic factors that may affect the success of your site. By following a few simple strategies, you can learn how to choose a domain name that will increase traffic and make you more money.

Your Domain Name Should Match Your Website Name

While it may seem obvious, it is preferred to choose a domain name that is the same as your website name. Once users become familiar with the name of your site, they need to be able to quickly type in the address and find exactly what they want.

If your website and domain name differ, users might not be able to find your site. As you are choosing a name for your website, look for something that is simple and memorable. Utilize a free domain registry tool in order to determine the availability of the domain for that site name.

Use Your Target Keyword in Your Domain Name

One of the best ways to attract a great deal of traffic to your website is to achieve a high search ranking for specific search terms. In order to improve your results, choose a domain name that includes your target keyword. This may not always be easy, since many of the most obvious domain name choices may not be available. Spend some time brainstorming name ideas in order to come up with a solution that is appealing and optimized for search.

Keep Domain Names Short to Increase Website Traffic

Shorter domain names are not only memorable, they are also easier for users to spell. This simple fact alone can dramatically increase your website traffic. However, do not sacrifice memorability or branding in order to obtain the shortest possible domain name.

For example, if your website is called "Widgets Weekly," opt for a domain name such as WidgetsWeekly.com rather than a shortened variation like WidWeek.com. Consider user behavior as you try to find a balance between brevity and branding.

Choose a Creative Domain Name

While generic domain names remain popular, choosing a creative name can also help increase your site traffic. If your preferred domain name is not available, consider different options. For example, if the domain name WidgetsWeekly.com was already taken, you might consider alternatives such as WidgetsMagazine.com or WidgetsDigest.com. By exercising your creative muscles, you can find a domain name that will be a hit with potential readers.

While choosing a domain name can be difficult, the potential gain in website traffic and online visibility make the process well worth the extra effort. When it comes to choosing a domain name, always focus on potential choices that are short, memorable and that reflect your website goals. If your domain name doesn’t reflect the website goals your efforts in affiliate marketing might go to waist. Once you have chosen a domain name, register it immediately.

If you wait, you risk the chance of losing the name to someone else. Finally, include your chosen domain name on any professional communications and marketing materials to help promote your new website. By choosing a great domain name, you can significantly increase website traffic and promote business identity.

A VERY common mistake of affiliate marketers using pay per click is to think it's ok to simply setup a campaign and then let it ride out thinking the income stream is just going to continue on. Wrong.

This is the simple formula to sure failure. If not in the short term, it will in the long run.

I've had numerous campaigns die down to practically nothing simply due to lack of optimization. I find this is mostly true when using Google Adwords. When using Yahoo Search marketing, it does happen to an extent, but it's much easier to "tame." Same goes with Microsoft Adcenter, it really doesn't require as much attention as Google.

A couple tricks I use:

  • Updating my Ads at least once a week. This is the main purpose for this is to continually strive for a better click through rate.
  • Adding fresh content. If your site has not changed in 6 months and you're wondering why your traffic sucks, maybe you should take a look at your content. It's stale and needs some refreshing. :)
  • Split testing new pages. This has a double effect. One, you're increasing conversions. Two, it looks like new content.

Those are just a few tricks that result in a great pay per click campaign.

Remember, it's not just a set it and forget it type of system. It does take actual work!

In the post just before this one, I wrote about a guy who was gaming Google adwords.

In the shoemoney post, Shoemoney mentioned the guy making TONS and TONS of money. I've actually heard from a very reliable source that this person isn't actually making all that much money. Heh... Good to know.

The source will remain anonymous but they are reliable. :)

Also, I think I figured out how he did the all caps in the Title. I'm going to be testing it out and I'll update you if it DOESN'T work. If it does, you probably wont hear anything more about it from me... hahahaha... at least until Google Patches it.

EDIT: Yup. I figured out the all caps thing. I dont plan on releasing how to do it mostly due to the fact that this will probably get your account banned. I removed this ad right after I made it. :)

testad-jonathanvolk1.jpg

And if you know how to do it, please keep it on the Down low and dont post it in the comments here.

So, all in all, I'm 50% sure I know who the person is who is doing it and I'm 100% sure on how they're doing it all. Pretty smart actually. My hats off to them for gaming the system so well.

Gaming Google Adwords

Paul from UberAffiliate.com and Jeremy from Shoemoney.com made some great posts about this shady character using black hat techniques to game Google Adwords. You can read them HERE and HERE.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how this guy is gaming the system and breaking the Google Adwords rules / filters. You cant even submit an All Cap title without getting your ad disapproved...

I've known about this guy for months yet I cannot figure out his techniques. I'm pretty sure that Paul mentioned the general basis of what the guy does but there is still a lot of puzzle pieces missing.

Anywho, read the posts and tell me what you think and if you have any ideas.
