Be sure to apply to my favorite affiliate network, AzoogleAds.

Jonathan Volk - Jumping for JoyWAHOO! My first day over $3,000. What an amazing accomplishment this is for me! I had to put up a picture that represented me last night in my house. (Jumping around for joy)

I finally hit the $3,000 mark around 9.00 PM and it kept going to become my highest earning day ever! Here are a couple screen shots below to show you some love.

Hydra Media

That's not even all the networks I ran either! Another crazy part about it is that I had 2 relatively large offers disabled while I rework them. Hahahaha. When I turn them back on, I hope to hit my first $4,000 day. Now that will be exciting!

What did I use to advertise? Mostly the big ones:

I cant wait to see how this month ends up. :)

Now Selling Ad Space

Just a small site update. For those interested, I am selling banner space on the home page for just $25 per month.

My goal was to start selling banner space once I hit 100 RSS readers and today I had 96 (which is close enough for me).

Adwords Tips

I've been asked to write a couple tips about starting a good campaign in Google Adwords.

While I use adwords to bring in a pretty heafty portion of my income, I still do not consider myself an expert. Even though I may not be an expert, I know what works, at least what has worked for me.

A couple of things that will make or break your campaign:

1. Your bids. Never bid the lowest possible amount when starting a campaign. I generally lose money on the first day (or at least lower profit margins). Doing so seems to avoid MOST type of google slaps.

As you refine your ads with a higher click through rate ad, lower your bids.

2. Keep refining your ads. Dont stop A/B Testing. It takes about 5 minutes to write a new ad. Every morning the first thing I do is wake up and check my ads. Want to know how important testing is?

I took a campaign with a 3.2% CTR (which is pretty good for starting out) and now am getting up to 13% CTR just by testing over about 2 months. This allows me to make more profit. Think of this task in terms of what it will do to your profit! :)

3. Use phrase and exact matching. Just bidding on things such as cats, dogs, pets, etc is going to get you a TON of traffic. If you utilize the phrase matching and exact matching chances are you're going to get such a huge increase in conversions. Think about all the possibilities of keywords that would trigger your broad keywords cats, dogs, and pets. It's much too large of a demographic.

4. Quality Score. It's really not that hard to get at least an OK quality score. If you get any poor quality score words, remove them and try adding them at a later time (24 hours later).

I hope those tips help you guys out!

Besides Adwords, I highly recommend you take the time to put your campaigns in Yahoo Search Marketing ($25 in free credits), and Microsoft Adcenter ($50 in free credits).

Good luck!

My Best Day - $2150!

Well I have smashed my old record of about $1950 with a new record breaking day of $2150 in affiliate commissions! WAHOO! What's even greater about this is the profit margins! While I'm not going to post the exact amount, I made close to $1000 in profit making it my most profitable day ever!

It's days like this that I like to look back and reflect a little bit about my past months. In months past, I would have heard $2150 in one day and dropped my jaw (and I still do). When I first started, my goal was to hit $5000 in one month. When I hit that amount, I thought I had arrived at my calling. A couple months later, I hit my first 5 figure month and then I though I had arrived. So what's next? A 6 figure month? First my goal is to hit $83,333 by the end of September. At this rate, I might be able to do it plus some.

I post all this to encourage you. You can do it too. It's possible when you work hard and think creatively. In fact look how far I've come in less than one year.
Here is a post from my first azoogleads check. Quite a difference.

I look forward to breaking many more records this month, namely breaking the total gross sales barrier and moving that slider up at the top of this blog way over! I cant wait to see where things go from here! :D

Rumors Are TrueIf you have never heard of PepperJam, they're one of the top internet marketing companies with huge clients such as Jelly Belly, DKNY, and other huge brands. Kris, the owner of the company is literally a genius when it comes to this stuff.

That's why when I got the chance to review their new affiliate network, PepperJamNETWORK, I jumped at the opportunity!

PepperJamNETWORK Review
I got to take a look at some of the offers and while the network is not even one day old, they have some really huge names. My objective was to see how they compared to other networks. How would they match up to other affiliate networks such as Azoogleads, HydraMedia, or even Commission Junction?

PepperJamNETWORK Review
Here are some preliminary results of offers that I've found in other networks:
1. Flycell Ringtones - Payout: $17 - While you could once get flycell payouts @ $18.50, this has long since gone. The highest I've seen currently is at copeac which is $16.50. So Joining Pepperjam would get you an instant $0.50 raise for doing nothing. Sweet.

2. Go Free Credit - EDIT: This has since changed to $17 payout like all the other networks. :)

Taking a look at the two offers above seems to present a good pattern, higher payouts. I'm going to check out a few more offers just to verify this pattern.

However, there were some issues that I noticed almost immediately. This payout on Go Free Credit looks great! But... what if I have to do something different to consider it as a sold or accepted lead. Essentially the problem is that every offer I looked at had no details on the requirements to consider a lead as sold. I generally like to know this information right away but I guess you're going to have to email the rep to find more information. Maybe once I'm approved to run an offer I'll get more information on it. I'll be sure to post an update on how long it takes to get accepted.

Another unique thing that I thought was really neat was that PepperJam created some custom "creatives" for offers. Neat! I'm sure with a company with such experience in internet marketing should be able to provide some pretty powerful creatives!

All in all this looks very promising. For any serious affiliate marketer, its no doubt worth it to get in and start using some of their offers. Right now they have around 100 offers with some really big names but I know for sure they will get more advertisers instantly.

Some other major benefits that were quite unique was the features listed below:

- Pepperjam Network introduces pepperjamADS™, which is a first-ever affiliate marketing widget that affiliates can use to serve customized contextual ads from multiple Pepperjam Network advertisers at the same time.
- Pepperjam Network contains a knowledge vault, which is exclusive to Pepperjam affiliates. The vault contains exclusive access to a list of tools and educational resources used by Super Affiliates.

One has to wonder how pepperjamADS will perform. It's a great idea and I'll be testing it out as soon as I can.

The other really cool thing is the knowledge vault which essentially is some affiliate links to some programs. Smart. If I had an affiliate network I would do that too but I'd at least cover up the direct tracking links (you can see the top one goes directly through a CJ.com tracking link hahahaha).

The second part of the knowledge base is essentially a list of super affiliate blogs. Some of the super affiliates listed include: Shoemoney, Super Affiliate Mindset, Zac Johnson, Earners Forum, and CPA Affiliates. I want to get on this list one day! :) All in all, the resource center really isn't all that useful unless you're just starting in the industry and have never read these blogs before.

If you're interested in checking them out, you can get your free account here: http://www.pepperjamnetwork.com

I always like to find out as much as I can about those who are more successful than me, particularly if they're younger (mind you I'm 20, going on 21 at the end of this month).

Paul B. from UberAffiliate.com has made up to $300,000 per month as an affiliate marketer. That's certainly something to brag about.

Either way, there is a really neat interview about him on the Retire@21 website. I'll post it here:

Paul Bourque started affiliate marketing less than a year ago and now is earning over $300,000 a month from AzoogleAds. Paul is current 19 years old and has done so well for himself over the past year he decided to drop out of college and work full time as an affiliate marketer. Aside from his obsession with conquering the internet, Paul enjoys spending his time with friends and family and plans to move into his dream house in early 2008.

How did you start of doing Affiliate Marketing?

I started browsing ways to make money on the internet when I was in college. I initially tried learning some SEO and Adsense for a few months, but was too much of a noobie with simple things like registering a domain or creating a website to really go anywhere. Then I heard about affiliate marketing, and after profiting the first month, I couldn't turn away. My first month was somewhere around $600 in revenue, and now I'm doing about 1000x that much.

What advice would you give someone who wants to make money online using affiliate marketing?

The same advice everyone else gives but with a little twist : study hard, never give up, and DON'T BE AFRAID. Being scared to lose money is the worst pitfall in the road to success online.

I created an affiliate marketing guide over at my blog where I tried to include as many helpful articles as I could from other forums and blogs. Aside from that, just read around forums and other popular affiliate marketing blogs to learn the basics. Once you have the basics down, it's all about testing and throwing some of your own money into the mix. The biggest secrets come not from reading an eBook or blog, but from discovering them yourself

I try and share my knowledge and what I've learned in my blog, UberAffiliate.com.

You made over $200,000 in one month from Azoogle Ads, tell us about this?

Well, I made over $200,000. If I told you any more information I'd just be plain stupid :).

What do you spend all of your hard earned cash on?

Investment for the future. Aside from the occasion big purchase like a car or soon to be house, most of my money goes into the bank so I can have it ready when an opportunity knocks on my door.

If you could go back in a time machine to the time when you were just getting started. What business related advice would you give yourself?

Keep doing what you're doing. I built up my empire rather fast, as I haven't even been in this game for a year and I'm perfectly happy with where I'm at and how I'm growing.

Do you think that entrepreneurialism is something that is in your blood? Or is it something that can be learned?

I think it's in your blood. You have to have a passion for what you do, and different people have different passions. Someone who loves to play music would be better off trying to become a professional musician than trying to make money online when they have no drive to do so.

Is there anyone that you look up to and model yourself on?

The people I most model myself on are those that I don't even know their names. The huge players in affiliate marketing that make millions a month but block all of their registration information. I'm constantly striving to get to that level, and I won't stop until I'm there.

What advice would you give to a Young Entrepreneur setting up their first business?

Definitely know that whatever age you are - it's possible. At first it was kind of fun, but now it's annoying to hear every real estate agent say "You're buying a house at nineteen years old? What do you do?!" That throws me into a 10 minute conversation about the internet and marketing and yadda yadda yadda. Just know that just because you're young doesn't make you any less genius that anybody else out there.

What are your plans for the future?

Keep reinvesting and building on the projects I have going now. I enjoy blogging so I'll keep that running. I have a few projects in production that aren't directly affiliate marketing, and the potential for all of them is enormous. So right now I'm just focusing on this next month - not the rest of my life. It's no fun that way.

Source: Here.

Pretty cool interview. He does offer some pretty good tips so I'd recommend checking him out.

My $400 Dollar Loss

Part of affiliate marketing is losing money. While you can attempt to make as much safeguards against it, you're still never 100% promised to make your money back.

Yesterday was a bad day...

I woke up at around 8:00 and had to be at church at 8:30. They had asked me to pick some coffee travelers up from starbucks and mind you I live 15 minutes away from the church. Hahaha. Needless to say, I had no time to check my email before leaving.

I am in church when I get a text from a friend saying my server is either blocking them or is down. I think nothing of it because they said they tried to login to their ftp 3-4 times and I figure that my security software just put them in the infamous deny file. :)

Well, about half way through service I get my iPhone out because my mind is getting the best of me... What if it is down...

I pull out my iPhone and my server isn't responding. Doh.

The bad part about this was that the night before I had re-launched a campaign that on a good day can make up to $650+ while spending around $400ish. So I had all my campaigns active and by the time I got home from church at around noon, I had already lost $400.

I wish I could have used that money for a fun game or a new remote control helicopter. (I'm really in to RC Helicopters since buying my first one back when I first hit my first $1000 day)

You never know how beneficial it can be to build a good relationship with your affiliate manager till you actually do it.

I used to be one of those "talk to me only when needed" type of guys that would contact their affiliate manager for requests only.

The two networks I push the most traffic through I generally get emails or phone calls at least a couple times a week. Building the relationship with my affiliate managers has allowed me to get more information and help with offers above and beyond the call of duty. (Good game by the way - gotta have some fun on a Saturday!)

Just to give you guys examples.

I was running this offer which converted OK but not great. I was making a profit and I had not really optimized it yet. My affiliate manager calls me and say hey man, been looking over your stuff and I realized that we have a new offer that converts a bit better. So without really having to do much (except change a link), I got an instant increase in profits. Sweeeet.

That being said, building a relationship with your manager is a great tool to maximize your profits. It's sorta like having your own employee working full time to find you the best offers!

There is some importance to who you have as an affiliate manager. Some of them just plain suck. Thankfully EVERY network I have ever asked has allowed me to change if requested. (I've got changed in 3 networks before)

Here is my list of affiliate managers... Use them wisely
AzoogleAds - Ryan Sessler. This AM is very dedicated and more importantly is very persistent. He's grown to be one of the best affiliate managers I've had yet.
HydraMedia - Ellie J. - Ellie emails me every day with top performing offers and little fun facts. She has always been super quick to email me even if it's just to say, "Sure! I'll get back to you ASAP." To me just knowing she got the email and is working on my request is amazing and puts me at ease.
CX Digital - Fraser MacLachlan - This guy is a bit of a rock star in the affiliate managers world. Let's just say he's an affiliate manager to some of the top performers and there is a reason. He's aggressive and uses everything he can to help you out. Even before I was signed up to CX Digital (formerly incentaclick), he talked to me about some stuff. Impressive.

The other networks I am still working on building a relationship with.

I find that many people do not use Yahoo Search marketing internationally as much as some of the other pay per click engines. I think this is mainly due to the fact that you have to sign up for a new account specific to that country.

Here is the good news though.

I've found some £50 Yahoo search marketing coupons for all new UK accounts. Not bad!

For those of you who have not yet created UK accounts, it's a great way to instantly increase and expand upon a niche that you are already dominating in. I've been able to hit top positions in a lot of realllllly competitive keywords simply due to less competition.

Hope that little tip helps you out!

I saw a great post at Wickedfire way back when about promoting Zip offers. I get a lot of questions about how to promote zip offers as some people feel that it's the easiest affiliates to promote... All you need is someone's zip code.

I have only promoted a couple zip submits before, but each one has had a high success rate. I've had one that converted at a consistent 80% conversion rate. How did I do it? I give some tips in the affiliate unleashed guides on that. But here is a helpful hint on how to get some zip submit traffic below:

I've been meaning to put this together for a while, but I've been staying fairly busy. Well, with all the posts and questions I've seen lately in the STS, Aff. Marketing, and Newbie thread about zip/email submits, it's pretty obvious to me that it's high time that I put this out. Take note: this is not a definitive guide to EVERYTHING zip/email, but it is a method that I've used to generate a lot of zip/email leads. I'm not going to hide anything from you either - I'll give you the exact campaign that I ran that converted at over 300%.

Step 1: Pick a popular news topic (something big that will get a lot of searches is good)

Step 2: Scrape keywords from several of the top news stories online. When I've done this, I've actually grabbed quite a few news article titles as keywords.

Step 3:
Setup a quick one page (multi page if you want to put up privacy/copyright/about pages) site. The key here is QUICK. Don't go complex. THis is easy. This website is truly a case of KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid). You should put this together in no more than 30 minutes. Use the keywords you scraped from the news article and run a poll based around the news topic. Try to make it a very easy yes/no question so that you don't confuse your audience and drive them away. Have the poll setup around 2 buttons (Yes or No, Now or Never, etc). Have both the buttons take the user to your zip/email submit.

Step 4: Setup an ad campaign in one of the search engines for this topic. Use your scraped keywords and set your bids as low as you can go. (I did $0.05 in Adcenter and Adwords and $0.10 in Yahoo). Point the ad to your poll landing page.

Step 5: Grab the most relavent zip/email you can to the demographic that you think will be most likely to be searching for this news article.

Step 6: Profit.

Ok, this may seem oversimplified, but it can really be that easy. To give you an example I'll be posting the exact campaign I used to do this. (see below)

Pretty neat huh?

Some good networks with ZIP offers:
