First, If you have not read, please visit the first post here: Get Rich Quick Schemes on DigitalPoint - TEST

Now, I have used up nearly all the 5000 unique visitors (about 450 left) and here are the results:
clix.png

productreview.png

So the numbers:
Total Income: $70.26 AUD (still have 450 clicks to go) = 61.50 in USD (according to google)
Total Cost: $27.95 USD
Total Profit: $33.55 USD

I more than doubled my investment in about 10 minutes of work. Not bad at all. :)

Now the real test, getting paid.

So I decided it would be fun to try some of the "get rich quick" schemes that are seemingly littered all over Digital Point.

Most of these posts look something similar to: "Spend $x To make $x!!" or "I will teach you how to make $X Just sign up under me! PM Me for more details"

I decided it would be interesting and fun to test some of these out. So where do I start...

First thing I did was I went around telling all the people to PM me that had created some sort of scheme. Most of the ideas required a pretty minimal investment so I'm not going to break the bank over them.

Some of the ideas included: Spamming Craigslist with an Auto posting bot, Sending Paid traffic to a Pay per click affiliate, And some which I couldn't quite tell what they do.

Most of these ideas seemed either illegal, spammy, or just plain dumb. Mainly the programs that promise "Make $100,000 in 60 days" I plan to stay as far away from as possible.

So the most legit program seemed to be sending paid traffic to a pay per click affiliate. Interesting idea.

First, I signed up with a traffic system, EasyHits4U, then I paid $28 bucks to get 5000 paid visitors. That's $0.0056 cents per click... shouldn't be hard to make a profit with this right?

Next I signed up for ProductReview Australia which pays me $0.05 AUD per click. With the rate of the current US dollar thats worth what, $5000 US? (kidding)

So now the traffic just started coming from Easy Hits 4 U and it seems to be working actually... This is crazy.

clixGalores Merchant & Affiliate Referral Commission Program
After testing some other places ClixGalore has actually brought even better returns by joining some campaigns that pay $0.10 AUD per click! :) Try them out for sure!

Just about 30 minutes after activating the traffic I've made about $1.55. Let's see if I can actually make the return on investment.

Hopefully I dont get banned from Product Review Australia.

Try it out and let me know if it works for you too.

EDIT: 1 Hour Update. Seems to be going well still. I added some more per click campaigns and they're performing well also. I wonder how long I can milk this gravy train?!

EDIT: I've found that ClixGalore has worked really well too. :D I added it to the post above. Tomorrow I'll give you some stats.

EDIT: 24 Hour Update. Seems I've made back all the investment + some in just 24 hours and still have about 1700 clicks left to go. I'm not going to invest a ton more into the system until I get paid. That's going to be the real test!! Hehe.

Goals 2008

I love goals. They really help to motivate and inspire me. All business owners, including home-based businesses should set goals for themselves. Even if you're just starting affiliate marketing, it's a great thing to have.

Beyond JUST having goals, we need to have a mindset that goes with those goals. Instead of thinking, I'm not going to be able to reach X level, you should think, how am I going to reach this level?

This year both my girlfriend and I are writing down goals and we plan on talking with each other. We're not going be talking about the goals as much as how to obtain those goals. Methods, strategies, etc. Just like it's been said before, it's not really the destination, but it's the journey to that destination that we should focus on. (I cant remember where I got this from - maybe I just made it up who knows...)

With that being said, here are a couple of my goals for 2008.

1. Earn $83,333 a month by September 2008. ($83,333 = ~1/12 of 1 Million)
1. Method --- I plan on branching out from just affiliate marketing and going into both service industries (AffiliateUnleashed and others) and continue to grow my affiliate business. Additionally, I plan on creating some drop shipping sites now that I have my California Resale Id. At the current growth pattern the only major obstacle is going to be my cash flow. Ideally I'd love to have an Amex Platinum but I dont think my limited credit history (I'm only 20) will be on my side. I guess we all have to start somewhere ;). After the $83,333, my goal is to break the 6 figure a month mark. I get excited just talking about it!!!

2. Organize the finances of Volk Marketing more.
2. Method --- I plan on getting a financial program such as quickbooks to organize the outgoing vs incoming cash flow each month. Right now I use excel... it works but it's a bit sloppy. I'd like to be able to track and know the exact breakdown of each campaign I'm running. Doing so will allow me to increase my returns even more. Although I do this somewhat already, I'd like to be more detailed about how I do it. Next, I plan to pay myself a set amount each month which will be transfered from by business account to my personal account. The personal account money is not to be used for business and visa versa.

3. Incorporate.
3. Method --- I plan to talk with an accountant and some business friends about the best methods for this. What are the best "tax shelters" and ways which I can pay the government the least amount of money. I know with corporations there is double taxation, but I also know there are a LOT of loops which you can use to your advantage. (If anyone has some good advice please let me know and get my goal done early!)

4. Give more.
4. Method --- As stated before, the primary purpose of blessing is to bless others. In other words, as I receive more, I want to give more. It's my ultimate goal to be able to give 80% of my income to organizations that are doing things. For this I look to examples such as Andrew Carnegie who gave away 90% of his income ($350 million) and still died filthy rich.

And during his life gave away approximately 90% of his fortune or about $350 million. (source)

This may be more of a longer term goal, but certainly its something I aspire to.

Like I've said before, when I die everything I have will amount to nothing. Therefore I want to invest into eternal things, people. Changing someones life for the better is something that I believe is eternal.

5. Work out 2 times per week.
5. Method --- Right now I work out roughly once per week. I have an ab machine and some free weights. I'm not really looking to gain huge muscle mass, just tone up even more. (Gotta keep the girlfriend happy right?) I plan on waking up slightly earlier on Mondays in order to get the work out time.

I know I'm missing some but I think it's a good list for now.

Let me know you goals by either posting a comment with them or make a blog post and link to it in a comment. If you link to the blog post, I'll post a link to them in this post.

Master Resale Rights Software
Here's a great little tip for those of you who dont know what to offer to get email subscribers: Master resale right software and ebooks! Most ebooks range from $0.01 to a couple bucks. Certainly not going to break the bank with that.

I have used this company before to get ebooks which I could give away for free to anyone who signed up to my email list. I've actually had as high as 10% opt-in rates before by doing this! At 300 visits per day, 10% is 30 subscribers. You can imagine how much you can make on just a 1 month list!

Affiliate marketing is all about finding the best way to monetize the traffic you're getting. Email subscriptions are just 1 way to really utilize your traffic and make them return visitors.

For email marketing I use Aweber. Another great place to find cheap resale ebooks is Ebay!

Hope that gives you some ideas. Heh.

First, if you have not already, read Yahoo Quality Score - 5 Bar Experiment Part 1.

Well, this "experiment" has turned out to be rather boring as a series. I make one easy change and look back in 48 hours and boom a 4 bar quality score. DOH. So what do I do? I get ready to post about it today to find that the 4 bar quality score turned into a 5 bar this morning. DOH Again.

I guess it goes to show how easily a 5 bar quality score can be achieved with some proper tuning. A couple reasons why I think it jumped to such a high quality score:

  • Removing excess keywords increases the "relevancy" of the keywords to the Ad
  • Removing excess keywords can increase Click through rates

I went from hundreds of keywords down to about 50 or so keywords that were actually pulling in impressions and clicks.

I think I'm going to continue this challenge in part 3 with a new, harder experiment - maybe even in google. :)

Theme Update

I was not really very happy with my old theme so I decided to update with this new theme. :)

It took about 5 hours of modification of a green theme, but I think it turned out nice! I also came up with a nice new "slogan" I guess you could call it. It started out something like, "Are you finally ready to become a super affiliate yet?" I continued to reduce it down till I had: "Ready, Set, Super Affiliate." It shows my goal - to help create super affiliates and docutment my journey to becoming one. :)

Tell me what you think / if you find any bugs. (I'm sure there are)

Recently in yahoo, I've had a couple "problem" ad groups that I cannot get to reach that legendary 5/5 bar quality score. Most all of the other adgroups in this campaign are 5/5 quality score.

In this post I am going to document my attempts to make this adgroup a 5/5 bar. Each Saturday morning, I'm going to try something new to the adgroup until it reaches a 5/5 quality score. (I think 1 week is enough time to make sure the quality score is fully updated)

I am doing this in hopes of increasing both my income from this niche and also lowering my bid prices.

For those who dont know, in Yahoo Search Marketing, the more "bars" you have, the more traffic you're going to get... at a cheaper price. Your goal should always be a 5/5 quality score. If you can pay less and get more (that should be some sort of slogan), there is no reason why you should not attempt anything you can to raise that score! Now, onto the action!

First let's compare the 5/5 bar to the 3/5 bar. What could be the issue...
3 bar

5 bar

Now, looking at these posts you'll notice some very similar attributes and I'll also explain some of the stuff you cant see about the campaign.

1. The click through rate (CTR) is nearly identical.
2. This is over the same timespan.
3. The ads are identical except a few words changed to match the group keywords better.
4. Adgroup with 5/5 has 15 keywords.
5. Adgroup with 3/5 has 700+
6. Both adgroups have the same bid price.

So now for the first experiment.

I noticed that most of my other adgroups with 5/5 have a fairly low amount of keywords in them that are all very closely related. What does that tell me? Let's weed out the non-impression keywords in the Adgroup that has 3/5.

I am taking this adgroup with 700+ keywords down to around 50 keywords. The other 650 keywords had 0 or 1 impressions (not clicks) in about a 15 day period. These keywords are just holding your campaign back. Lets get rid of them!

Now that I've done that, I'll wait and see what sort of effect this is going to have. Make sure to tune in next week to both see the results and see what else I'm going to be trying to raise this quality score! :)

Feel free to follow along with any lower quality adgroups you have!

Since my last post about Microsoft Adcenter, I've been asked quite a few times about some of the things I do to have success with Adcenter.

I think a couple of the things I think are key.

First thing, Use the demographic targeting. Although It's not going to be perfect, it helps increase conversions if you know to whom you're writing your ad!

Next thing, we all know MSN does not get near the volume as google or even yahoo. Thus, doing a huge long tail keyword campaign is not going to bring a great return for your time. What I meant from bringing over my campaigns is that I find the higher volume keywords and transfer them over to adcenter. Chances are, if it's a low volume on yahoo or google, you're going to get next to nothing on adcenter... Dont waste your time, at least I dont.

Next tip. Resubmit randomly turned off keywords. It's your job to bug them so do it. It is work but hey, a few calls can increase your income... I think that's a good return on time. Besides you can be working while you call them.

I hope those are some good tips to help you get started with your successful adcenter campaign.

Now go earn some extra money! :)

Microsoft Adcenter

I think Microsoft adcenter is possibly one of the most commonly overlooked methods of increasing your sales with practically no actual thought. I've used them successfully since I've started and they've always brought in some nice extra income for me. :)

The thing I dont get is how they do the demographic research. I guess since adcenter is associated with Microsoft which is about ~90%+ (estimation) of all people online, they can somehow tell what demographics are viewing their advertisements. My other guess is that they are using the Live Toolbar to get these stats.

Get this, you can target your traffic by age (no idea how they get this information), geographic location, time of day, and even gender (again, no idea how they're getting that information).

I question how accurate the demographics are, but hey increase is increase.

I think things like this can be especially helpful when promoting things such as dating or other gender specific niches. Generally, you're going to want to say, "Find the woman of your dreams" and have a male find it. I'm sure the woman looking for Mr. Right is not looking for a woman of her dreams.

No other search engine can boast doing that... for now at least.

For those of you not using it, I highly recommend it. Why? Because it's extra traffic for a fraction of the cost of google.

How are the conversions?
You'll see my posts on Adcenter on Digitalpoint have always been in favor that Adcenter's conversions were always par or better. In fact I used Adcenter to keep some campaigns going in the profit while I tried to figure out how to make the adwords campaign profitable.

Overall, I generally use the same keywords from my other campaigns and just transfer them over to adcenter. It seems to work well enough. :)

EDIT: I wanted to add what I dont like about Adcenter.

While I like the service a lot, I HATE the interface and I think most will agree, it's VERY "clunky." That loading bar seems to be spinning 100% of the time while I'm on that site. While it does bother me quite a bit, it's not enough to stop me from making extra money. :P

Just had to add that little bit.

This was another post on my "instant increase" series.

Jonathan Volk
