So far, May has been a record breaking month for my company. I am just so excited to see things progress as the summer months roll around! So far this month I have broken many company records (well... I mean personal records since I'm the only one in the company really)

Just to name a few...

  • Best Sales in 1 Day... I'm not going to put how much but it was a good amount
  • Best Sales in 1 Week... Again...
  • Best Sales in 1 Month... :D... Do you see a pattern here?

Well, things are really gearing up for some major company breakthrough! I'm a man with goals and I think it's important to set time periods for those goals. A common theme among my generation (I'm talking like 25 and younger), is to not set goals for ourselves; when we do set goals it's generally not on a time line.

I own a forum, www.mmoccforum.com, which has about 1700+ registered members; most members are the age of 18 or below. This forum focuses on the development and playing a certain genre of games called MMOCC games. Most of these companies are run by younger kids which is great! I think it's great to get your feet wet while you're young. The common mistake however is these teens will start making the game and not set goals of any type.

Most announcements consist of, "Our game is coming out soon! Maybe even within a week.*" Then you look at the * to read "date not for sure." You look back a week later and there has been little progress except maybe a new forum... woo.

All that basically to say it's important we set timed goals. If you want to make a game, say I need to have this done in 1 Year. Did you know that if you do this, you will be the top 3% of the free world that actually does set written, timed goals? Perhaps what's even more interesting is that of those who actually write the goals down and set a goal date... a HUGE majority accomplish those goals!

I set strict deadlines for my business and I work like crazy till I see those goals come to pass. My business goals are quite large for the summer months ahead. So large I'm not going to even post it. All I will say is I'm hoping to break the 5 figures / month bracket by next month in total revenue. God willing, I will do it... At least I'm on track to do it! I leave it in God's hands because I know that through Him, all is possible.

Arcade Success

Recently I've been seeing some success with my arcade websites (such as www.knightarcade.com and www.arcadeforfun.com).

After changing the homepage to look like it has new content automatically, I dramatically increased my return visitors even though the sites content hasn't been updated in over a month. Then again... it does have 3400+ games so I dont see a huge need to update regularly.

I've found a way to send traffic at a sub-adwords price which is great. Back when I started my arcade websites I could actually send people to my site using the Pay Per Click search engine, adwords. I tested and tested my ad to such a point that it was bringing in around 5-6% click through. This is very high. Basically, with google adwords, the higher your clickthrough rate, the lower your bid can be and the higher your position on the sponsored listing. Knowing this information, I could get my bid down to 3 or 4 cents per click which is not much considering I could make up to $1.00 per click from visitors who clicked my ads.

After a while, the market of adwords got flooded and thus bid prices were increased even if it I had a great quality score. Adwords is no longer a profitable network to advertise for at least in this arbitrage. Now I have found a new arbitrage... which essentially internet marketing is about; you send targeted high quality traffic for as cheap a price as possible in hopes of making a profit.

After running a test campaign of 300,000 impressions through this new ad network, I found a very good place to advertise. Obviously I would never post the location or any other information to help keep the prices low.

Here is some information about the campaign:

  • Cost: $225 USD
  • Impressions: 300,000
  • Cost Per 1000 impressions: $0.75
  • Click Through Rate: 3.18%
  • Total Clicks: 10022
  • Cost Per Click: ~0.022 cents
  • Total Revenue: $590
  • Total Profit: $365

An extra 365 bucks for basically spending 20 minutes negotiating an offer to the advertiser. Now, here is the exciting part: I had to put a daily limit of the traffic received because I didnt want to load my server. This advertiser could actually send me much much more traffic in a shorter period of time. So It's a numbers game. Now I need to order another quad core server and move one of my arcades to it. Once I do this, I will try to send like 5,000,000 impressions.

Now let's dream using previous figures.

  • Cost: $3750 USD
  • Impressions: 5,000,000
  • Cost Per 1000 impressions: $0.75
  • Click Through Rate: 3.18%
  • Total Clicks: 159,000
  • Cost Per Click: ~0.022 cents
  • Total Revenue: $9381
  • Total Profit: $5803.5

Once I pay down my credit card from advertising costs of this month, I will do it and post the results. :)

The only risk with this type of marketing is that you're not guaranteed that you'll get the same click through rate or amount of clicks... So I could spend around $4,000 getting a server and marketing traffic and end up making very little or losing money. I love it.

Great Quote

Stuart, a fellow intern, showed me this quote after finding it in a rather unusual place; he found it in a bathroom stall of all places.

I think this quote is absolutely amazing. Tell me what you think.

Our deepest fear is that we are weak

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us

We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented & fabulous?

Acutally, Who are you not to be? You are a child of God!

Your playing small doesn't serve the world.

There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We are born to manifest the Glory of God that is withing us.

It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone

And as we let our own light shine, we consciously give others permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

I received the first check from Azoogleads on Friday! It has been one of my largest single checks for affiliate marketing. Mostly, this check consists of dating offers (eharmony, true, singlesnet, etc), ringtone offers and a few business card campaign leads.

1st Azoogleads check

I also recieved my second clickbank check ($xxx), but I didnt take a picture. The nice thing about the clickbank check is that it's mostly profit.

The Azoogleads check is about 50% profit... while the clickbank check is nearly 80% profit! :D That's what I like! I still have some checks coming in from YPN, adsense, and neverblueads! :) Those should come towards the end of the month.

I've been working on some new campaigns and have optimized my current campaigns to bring in optimal performance. I'm hoping to break the $333 revenue a day mark within a couple months (especially with this summer break coming up :D)

Just taking me 1 step closer to that 1 year goal!

There are some great tips for writing Ads. :) I use many of these techniques to refine my adwords / YSM campaigns. :)

- When you do any kind of split testing, you
should start out by testing radically different
things, then refine the winners.

So at first you test black vs. white, question
vs. statement, bold claim vs. blind curiosity,
negative vs. positive, pain vs. pleasure.

- Only after you've tested the wildly different
options do you then focus on refining words,
testing capitalization etc etc.

- One of the most useful things for me is to apply
various "filters" to my ads. Each filter forces you
to write the ad a different way than you normally would.
Here are some of my favorite filters:

1. Nearly every kind of punctuation mark on your
keyboard:

! # - $ , % & ' ' " " / ~ : ; ( )

Every single one of these - or combinations of
them - are not only useful but can attract more attention
as well. If you decide you're going to use dashes
or quotes in your ad, it's probably going to cause
you to write a different ad than you would have.

Here's an example of an ad written around dashes:

Popular Ethernet Terms
Complex Words - Simple Definitions
3 Page Guide - Free PDF Download
www.BB-Elec.com

2. Rhythm: One of my Mastermind Club members
told me he got a huge breakthrough writing his ads
like Haiku. Haiku is when the first line has 5
syllables, the 2nd line has 7 syllables and the 3rd
line has 5. He got a huge increase in Click Thru
Rate.

Here's a Haiku ad:

Anger Management
Smash! Punchbowl is in Pieces
Learn Some Self-Control
www.SpringfieldCounseling.com

Well, he didn't get his boost because Haiku causes
people to click or buy. It's because being forced to
write a 5 syllable headline made him create a headline
he wouldn't have thought of otherwise.

3. Write ads that appeal to each of the five senses:
Taste, Touch, Smell, Sound or Vision. This one
evokes touch:

The Wildest Massage
The Sensation of Shivers & Tingles
Through Your Skin & Down Your Spine
www.SkilledMassage.com

4. Reference famous people - you obviously have to
do it legally and appropriately, but can be very powerful:

Wrinkle Removal Miracle
Skin Transforms in 60 seconds!
(Used by Oprah, Beyonce & Britney)
www.dremu.com

Note the use of parentheses in this ad, too.

5. Use Metaphors: Vivid word pictures, like this:

Will Your Wedding Be
A Carnival of Utter Confusion,
Or the Happiest day of your life?
TheWeddingOintment.com

6. Some other things you can try: Trial offers,
guarantees, no obligation, sign up for
something free, pre-qualify with price.

7. Results within a certain amount of time;
deadlines, i.e. "Deadline is midnight Thursday 5/17"
(deadline dates are *rarely* seen in Google ads
but can be highly effective); External certification
or credentials, discrediting knock-offs; results in
X easy steps.

Goals.

It's important to set goals for yourself and strive to get to them. Recently I have set a goal and I have been writing them down.

By next year, I want to be making $10,000 profit a month from affiliate advertising. I have about 12 months to hit that goal. Last month I made nearly $5000 gross from all the marketing and such so I still have a little ways to go but I'll get there soon enough.

Goal Date: June 2008

Basically it boils down to I need to make an average of $333.34 profit a day for 30 days to hit my monthly goal. What is it going to take? Innovation, creative thinking, lots of work, and most importantly... persistence. I actually think this goal is a bit conservative based on growth patterns I've experience but hey, we'll see what God does.

This summer I have plans to work with a number of individuals on projects. This will help me widen my horizons, create less work for me, and increase income. I have plans to work with Scott Pae on a rather large niche ecommerce project, My Dad on a huge scale painting related sales package / ecommerce niche site, a review / drop ship site with Maria, and of course... my own affiliate projects.

And then... the most important part. What to spend it on. No, I wont be buying a fancy car, huge statues, or some other ridiculous things. I plan to invest. Invest into both the natural things and spiritual things.

The Bible is clear that we are not to store up things where moth and rust can destroy but to store up treasures in heaven. I personally think this means using our money to advance the kingdom of God. It's my life goal to be using 80% of my income as a means to build churches, pay for missions trips, and numerous other methods.

My lifetime goal is basically to have numerous passive income sources. These sources will pour into a non-profit charity I own, and will be used for extending the kingdom. I already have thought of the name of the charity and everything. :)

The main reasoning I have behind this is that no matter what I have in life... when I die... it's all gone. If I invest into other people's lives, it goes beyond just my lifetime but it's carried into eternity. And what could more important than being able to fund projects that help people to turn their life to Christ?

Life is good. :)

This is totally unbelievable. One of the affiliate marketers I look up to uploaded a screenshot of his stats for this month. They call him ShoeMoney... He's in my opinion, one of the best internet marketers.

Take a quick look at just SOME of his campaigns. Keep in mind this is just Azoogleads.

ShoeMoney Azoogleads

This is a goal of mine I hope to hit before I'm 30 years old. I'm currently 20 years old so I have a good 10 years to get there. :)

I have some money invested into the stock market; mostly in tech companies. I invested a couple months ago after researching some reviews and magazines. Recently I have seen a small profit which is encouraging. I am thinking of investing into a couple more companies... but first here are my current listings.

I have a few thousand invested into the following from largest holding to smallest:

  • Microsoft - (Stock Ticker: MSFT)
  • American Eagle Outfitters - (Stock Ticker: AEO)
  • Intel - (Stock Ticker: INTC)
  • Eni S.p.A. - (Stock Ticker: E)
  • Sirius Satellite Radio - (Stock Ticker: SIRI)

Mainly, I am going to continue investing into Microsoft and start investing into Apple. Recently Apple stocks jumped from around $90 per share to $100+. Think if you had $10,000 in apple. That's over $1000 nearly over night.

The main thing to know is that I use money that I dont need. I never invest money into this risky of a venture without being able to lose all of it.

Next, make sure to do your research. Find out what experts are saying and invest into a safe stock at first. Since I'm a bit younger, I wont be detrimentally hurt if I lose a couple grand... so I tend to invest a bit more risky than some.

Finally, don't pour all your money into just stock. It's smart to have diversified investments. I am working on getting a good combination of:

  • Roth IRA's and CD's - Long term investments... some tax benefits
  • Stock - Long term and short term investments... higher risk
  • Municipal Bonds - Tax deferred low risk investments
  • High interest Savings - LOW risk but steady 5% return. I am trying to have around 6 months of income in there at all times in case of emergencies.

Technical Information:

  • Where do I trade my Stock? - I use Scottrade. If you want to sign up with them, I can get you my referrer link which will get you 3 free trades! (And me 3 free trades!)
  • Where do I have my high interest savings account? - I use HSBC Direct. I get 5.05% interest on this account. No monthly minimums, no starting limit. It's great. In fact, I dont really understand why anyone would not have an HSBC account for savings.
