Be sure to apply to my favorite affiliate network, AzoogleAds.

Recently I've been selling a bunch of items on Ebay and Craigslist. I've been trying to make some room so I can purchase a 42" 1080P LCD Tv to use both as a new TV and a monitor.

So far I've sold 6 items and made some good money. Tomorrow I'm hoping to sell this speaker system (4 floor standing speakers I have), and an old 19" CRT monitor.

I'm trying to sell $1,500 worth of stuff this month to pay for the new computer I just purchased. :)

All this to say... never think, "I cant afford a new computer." Always think, "How can I afford a new computer with 42" monitor?"

I got this concept from my dad when I was young after he read Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Instead of I cant afford it, you should always think, "How can I afford it." It's so true and is necessary thinking for those wanting to get into internet marketing.

A person on the click consultants forum (highly recommended forum for those trying to get into affiliate marketing) asked these questions about Quality Score in Adwords.

  • 1. In my understand, Quality score = Relevant to Keyword (for Ad & landing page) + CTR, is it correct?
  • 2. Is Quality Score sticked to Account, Campaign, AdGroup, Ad or Keywords?
  • 3. Where can I check the Quality Score?
  • 4. If I had a AdGroup with Low Quality Score, will it affect another AdGroup in the same Campaign?
  • 5. What should I do if my Quality score is dropped to very LOW? Should I delete the AdGroup and create another?

To my experience this is what I have noticed.

  • 1. Correct.
  • 2. Adgroup / domain-landing page.
  • 3. In adwords I dont believe you really can. Just base it off your CPC
  • 4. Not to my experience. I had a site in the PPC program when QS was first introduced. The CPC went from 0.03 to 10.00... So.. I bought a new domain, copied all the files / content ... change a few small things and bam... back to 0.03 - 0.05. (Also note I had a VERY high converting ad - 10% on good days)
  • 5. Quality score is going to stay the same for all landing pages to my experience. You might try buying a new domain and then creating a new campaign.

Yes!!! I got my first clickbank check!
First clickbank check

The total of my first month at click bank was 820 bucks. :D Not bad for a first month. Here is the detailed breakdown:

Revenue: $820
Advertising cost: $560
Profit: $260

The profit for this was so low because of two reasons. 1, I was trying multiple campaigns many of which were not good converters. 2. I wasn't watching my numbers close enough.

Additionally, clickbank held back about 90 bucks from my check in case people return any of the sales.

I have a bunch more checks coming in too!
Let's see March's breakdown:

NeverblueAds: $800
AzoogleAds: I just started them this month so I wont get a check for about a month... so far I'm at almost $500 for about a weeks worth of time. :) Are you starting to see why I like them so much?!?! ;)
YPN: Almost $2000
Adsense: Almost $500

I have a lot of receivables this month... need them quickly to pay off this debt all the advertising has brought. :) (although I have always made a net profit at the end of the month!)

Either way, I'm happy! :D

The quickest and easiest way for you to increase you google adsense income is to know where your users are clicking / focusing and then place your ads there.

How do you know where your users are focusing you might be asking.

Well here is what I used to effectively increase my google adsense income literally over night.

www.crazyegg.com - It's free and does a heck of a job. With crazyegg, you place a small code on the pages you want tracked. This code creates an image map showing you where all your users are clicking most. It's absolutely amazing.

I recommend it highly.

Having my main source of income from the internet for a little while now, I thought I'd share a couple of tips that have helped me.

1. Make sure to pay yourself.
- When I first started making money with websites, I would pour every last penny into marketing. What helped me was getting a high % savings account at a bank that was different than my normal bank.

Having it at a different bank helped me to get both a higher % but more so to not just impulse spend it (because I had to transfer it to use the money).

I recommend HSBCdirect.com... they pay 5.05% interest on your savings account... no fees... and you can start an account with $1.

I normally pay myself 10% of every check / deposit I get.

2. No interest credit cards... :)
- I cant tell you how nice it has been to find a good credit card with 0% interest for 12 months.

I found a great credit card offer from householdbank.com - 12 months 0% interest (on all purchases and transfers) and 2% cash back!!!

householdbank.com has actually been really great. It helps me to make more money because every advertising dollar I spend I get 2% back :)

(PM me for an affiliate link if you want to help me out :))

3. Watch your figures.
- Be sure to watch every cost to make sure you're making more than you're spending. I own about 30+ sites that I make money with adsense/YPN. At first I would spend so much and not watch how much I was spending that I thought I was making a profit when in fact I was not.

The owner of Godaddy.com puts it best, "All figures that are watched will improve." Be sure to watch every expense and know your Returns.

That's it for now. :)

Three fourths of all Google advertisers pay at least 50% stupidity tax.Not just on Friday the 13th, but every day.

Which is to say, most of those little ads you see all over the Internet cost their advertisers twice as much as they should. Sometimes much more.

This is a bad omen.

Good for you and me, though. Because it's not like this problem can't be prevented with a few Four-Leaf Clovers and Rabbits Feet.

The #1 way to toss your coin into the Internet Wishing Well is to run a Split Test. You pit one Google ad against another and getting a winner and a loser, again and again and again.

Your lowly ad starts out with a very unlucky 0.6% CTR but rises to 1%, then 1.5%, 2.2%, 2.6%, 3.1%, 3.6% -- and suddenly you can pay one sixth as much as when you started, but still get the same position.

When most of your rivals are paying 2-6X as much as you, it's a lot easier for you to cast curses and spells on them, isn't it?

But here's where all that gets jinxed.

If you mix Google traffic with AdSense (content network) traffic and then try to do split tests, it's Friday the 13th every day. Black cats cross your path. There's an eerie increase in traffic accidents, and a Series of Unfortunate Events. Your very oatmeal congeals on your spoon as you bring it to your mouth.

Here's how the misfortune is manifested: Your two ads start running on Google instantly. The next day you declare a winner and you delete the loser, and re-write the 2nd ad to beat the winner.

The day after that the Google editor (who is speaking ill of you, which is why your left ear itches) approves your first ad to show on the content network and because of the content traffic. Which always has a lower Click Through Rate. Your total CTR goes down.

But the 2nd ad is still waiting to be approved (which takes a few days) so its CTR is higher. It *appears* to be luckier and you delete the first one.

Actually the 2nd ad is NOT luckier than the first. You deleted the winner and kept the loser.... and you keep divining your ads, not knowing that mixing two kinds of traffic together casts misfortune upon your family. A dog howls at night and someone in the house is sick. You find yourself walking under ladders and stepping on a crack and breaking your mother's back.

The cure to this is to run your Google traffic and your Content traffic through separate Campaigns. Then your traffic is always apples to apples.
(By the way, it is traditionally believed that Eve tempted Adam with the apple on a Friday.)

Friday the 13th goes away. Suddenly you meet a chimney sweep by accident, which portends good fortune. Every day is Christmas and every night is New Years Eve.

And whatever you do, don't mix your Google and Content traffic together and try to do split tests.
